Hey, its me (obviously). I was wondering if any of you know where I could find HD DV cameras that function below freezing. I'm in desprate need of one (or 2 or 3) for the comming seasons ski/snowboard movie.

Many thankz,

? if you could get some insulated cases for them wouldn`t they keep warm from the heat of their own operation?, my camera develops a warm spot when it`s been on a while, if it was in a padded "jacket" I should think it would keep working, you would have to keep it warm when not in use though, but I assume you could keep it in the car or under your coat or whatever until needed, I think the operating temperature is more an issue with the actual technology (eg lcds like to be warm to work) than the brand.

[edit]if you got one of those peltier effect "coolboxes" (thermoelectric element)they can keep things warm too, you could keep the camera in one of those (with the heat turned to low naturaly) as long as it didn`t get too hot.

contact some action or sports photographers / visual suites that capture this type of footage and ask them what are the options of shooting video in extreme conditions.

if you play it is a school assignment, they will usually tell you what you want to know.

rent the camera you want, man this post is old, good luck with your project.

rent it for the time it takes to shoot plus 2 days in case plus 2 days to dump to the computer then dump it to another hard drive as a back up in case, then give the camera back. renting gives you full insurance, less overheads and 100% tax deduction in my country. take the tape out before you give it back, trust me even pros slip up there sometimes.
