in darkbasic pro the exe will be in two places, in the project folder and in the temp folder, if you just started typing into the ide and didn`t make a project then you will just find the exe in the temp folder.

if you are using classic then you will find the exe in the my projects folder, you can`t write anything unless you make a project, just selct the make final exe from the file menu iirc

to make images smaller, just load it into paint then save it out as JPG, that automaticaly makes it smaller and saves people complaining it took ten minutes for your picture to download when they are on dialup

heres the location of the exe`s in DB pro

in classic you just look in the darkbasic folder, my projects, <insert name of projects here> folder and your exe should be in there, if it ain`t then you might be using the demo version, I don`t know if the demo makes exe files.

oh! my bad! your using classic?, you only get a exe when you build one, DB classic is an interpreter, it only makes a runtime (with its own included optimised interpreter) when you tell it too, other times it just reads the instructions you typed in as it goes, Pro is a compiler, it has to make a exe every time you run the code, use the exe from build exe, thats what it`s for, its the only way to end up with a exe in classic.

just had to check on my old win98 laptop, it does indeed say compile, but what it means is "check if the program will compile" which would be too long for the button , it just tests if the code will compile, if you use Xdarkedit then you get a make exe button in the ide as well as the compile button (I can recomend Xdarkedit, you can find it in the darkbasic folder, its a windows alternative IDE for darkbasic, much more usable and easier on the eye).

Have you tried my new IDE for DB Classic?

If you've tried an earlier version, then try the latest one. It's quite stable now and is actually good enough to use. It might make life a bit easier for you - even though it's not yet 100% finished yet.

you have to configure it before you use it, go to edit/edit options then select the darkbasic options tab, in there (this is for win98)
set the following

and your good to go, not that I am putting down TDK mans IDE, but it is still an alpha (or earlier), and you realy want a stable IDE while you`re learning (no disrespect TDKman), just use the browse button at the side of each input field to browse to the path location, it`s easier than trying to type it all in, I had to place it in a code box since the forum keeps eating the backslashs in the paths.
