heres the first screenshot of the game that i'm working on. its set around the world and will have wars from the 1960's onwards. Wars that will appear in the game is vietnam, falklands conflict and the two gulf wars. The scene here is from the gulf war and the weapon is the m-16. The purpose of this screen is to demonstrate the HUD and the environment. I made the weapon myself in caligari gamespace 1.5 the texture of the arm went missing so it appears white. More screens on later today.

is that it, perhaps you shouldve put a bit more work into it before you posted, but thats not for me to say

the gun looks quite good, but the HUD looks very 'Monster Hunt Tutorial'-ish

I like the concept though

well......you need a lil more work, you just fit in the rules, but well, so I'm not gonna complain, its shows you are doing stuff and are focused on the project, but have nothing to comment on really.

good thing you didn't make this what we call a newb post, well gotta give you credit for that as a first wip thread

Finally a newb has decided NOT to make an MMORPG!!!!
I think its a very good idea to take the Monster Hunt tutorial and add in your own parts etc. Very good start.

@Dom, you never know it could be

Battlegrounds of the modern age online....

why are people obsessed with MMORPGs, I find myself only able to play em for only half an hour, whereas other games I can play for much longer

Heres a screen of an enemy. The model was the original manikin that comes with DBC but i changed it so it was more smoother and i made the texture myself in paint. This enemy is only a temporary one because i havent got enough time to make and animate a better one, yet. At the moment i'm using the monster hunt tutorial as my template for this game. The buildings have replaced those pillar ones in the tutorials and the soldier has replaced the monster.

looks like a nice start, the green arrow means its a sticky, which the thread doesn't ever move with posts, its a good way for messeges to get across, but mods can only turn threads into stickies on this forum

Ha Ha Ha. When I saw this on the WIP board link on the forum homepage, it called it "Battle grounds of the mod..." I wondered what in the world it was...

screenie looks cool, try not to smooth the characters much though, because it makes it higher poly, and slows the game down. looks good though

one chessy way is to have it move the camera foward but that can cause problems.

1) to zoom use the "set camera fov" command

2) for the palm trees, well you could either make a model, or, you could make the background of your image black (or use "set image colorkey" if you have pro), and then paste that onto a plain, make sure you set the plain so its transparent and gets rid of the black bits, and pointthe plain towards the camera
