Every once in a while my program will not load up the correct TEXTURE for a 3ds file for some reason. 1 out of 30 times(or doesnt load up a texture at all for some reason- its like the video card cant allocate the memory for that texture/3ds file at that one particular time or something?) - i exit out and start the program again and then it works fine - very weird - see example below - the white blocks coming out of chest is supposed to be a cloud of smoke.

Heres the way its supposed to look:

Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Thanks
Bill

I've experienced something like that. What I would do is use the command texture object OBJECT NUMBER,IMAGE NUMBER. That way, it gets textured correctly, without relying on the .3ds

Yes - I've seen that happen too - with .X files (don't use 3Ds files at all).

If it's any consolation, it only seems to happen when running your program from the editor. I've never seen it happen with a finished exe though, so it might just be a memory glitch.

[Edit]

Forgot to say - your game is looking very impressive btw!

Heh, you think you've got it bad - On my old old (now deceased) laptop, matrices used to texture themselves with the 'window restore' icon

(The window restore icon, is the one you get when the window is maximized. It's between the _ and the X.)

It could indeed be some memory problem or other - Try updating your graphics card drivers, and what are your system specs?

(Btw, nice game :o)

Thanks for the suggestions - I was kinda hoping I wouldnt have to manually retexture all my 3d objects when loading up - but it looks like that may be the only way to make sure.

Also - It does happen in my exe too. And yes blanky thats happened too - some strange button graphic is loaded instead. Weird

I thought maybe there was some command to clear the video cache before starting my intial load to give it a better chance of loading 3d objects textured properly without weirdness.

Thanks
Bill
