Well, recently, I have been wanting to upgrade my computer. I need some ideas of where I can get a REALY good system for AS LITTLE MONEY AS POSSIBLE. Its not that I'm a cheap guy or a money horder, its that I'm kinda running on alowance, and I need a new system soon. I'd like to get a Dell or Alaenware, but they cost so damn much . And I've searched my as* off for "free" PCs, but couldnt find anything.

I'm trying ebay, but... I just need ideas.

Here's what I'd like:

Petnieum D @ AT LEAST 3.2 GHz
AT LEAST 1GB Memory
nVidia G-Force 7200
160 GB Hard Drive
Surround sound card
Dual Latyer DVD Burner
DVD 16X
CD-R/RW
LAN
Win XP (doesnt matter the verson, I got the Pro disk)
Good, BIG LCD monitor

I know its alot, but I'd love it if someone could give me some ideas.

Thanks,
Chris

well for those specs id guess your looking around the £700 mark maybe more?, the main bulk of the price is from the monitor as they cost alot .

anyways isnt it easy to just look around on various sites? kelkoo,dabs,e-buyer etc etc

If you get a good motherboard then that will sort out your LAN and Sound.

(Convert to $ as appropiate)

A decent TFT will be £200+

Hard drive £80

DVD £30

I don't know about Pentiums, got an AMD X2 and highly recommend that; probably cheaper as well.

go to NEWEGG.com, build your own system...newegg is the best because they have cheap prices and they ship REALLY fast. i usually get mine in 2-3 days without any of that extra bull shipping crap stuff

and go AMD, intel sucks. Dont look at the clock speeds to compare the two. AMD's are more powerful, even though they arnt as fast. more "torque" as it were

Just make sure you buy the parts individually and build it yourself. You save a massive wadge of stinking green. My compo cost just under £1100 for the base unit. That's:
AMD 4000+
K8N-SLI MB
Twin GPU 6600GT 256MB (SLI ready)
2GB corsair ram
twin 120GB seagate HDs
dvd drive
dvd writer drive
SB Audigy Platinum (with front panel facia)
Swish antec case.

With my posh monitor and posh old speakers it came to £1800. A lot of money, but I am guessing it'd cost me about £2500 - £3000 if I'd bought it ready built (based on comparing it with ready built specs from good value stores).

It's all from EBuyer and these days MBs/CPUs/Cases (especially antec) come with good instructions if you don't know what you're doing. Also, you can use it as an opportunity to buy a load of OEM software that you might otherwise have got using naughty methods. ahem.

Attached a piccy of my compo setup.

Personally I'm not looking at the minute, but a friend got a Mesh recently and it was a pretty good price. Normally I would consider making my own, but he wanted a new unit. I found him the one below, but he had already ordered the Mesh.

http://www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=10281817&pid=5&rstrat=3169

Only downside with the one above is the cards are only 128mb each. Still, pretty decent for a whole system.

I like it when they don't force monitors and the like on you. His Mesh was a pretty decent machine, but since I wasn't bothered with monitor (love my current one), keyboard, mouse etc it worked out around £200 more expensive than what he had *without* a monitor, by configuring your own on their site (compared to the review machine).

Cheers
