BIG computer geek,

Have you even touched the tutorials that come with the language?! Lastly, when you ask for help, be a bit more specific.

make object cube 1,1 that gets you past text

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

Text is a very easy part of DB, no mather if you have the Pro or the Classic ver. There're 3 main commands: Print, Text and center text. You problem should be how to position text (i guess, can't be sure...) Print command needs to be position before you use it unless you want it to start at position 0.Modify the position with the command set cursor(x,y). The text command are more easy, but it is just to text (strings), not Real or Integer. Center text will center your text on the current position.

Like NanoBrain says, you need to be especific

Well, text can give you some valuable lessons ....like ....like strings and variables..... there you go! Well, I can see by your subject title that you've studied on the text commands, so, I think you should study some tutorial on Pong or something like that. When I first got DB I didn't know about these forums right off of the bat, so, I had to make do with the Iced Demo and the print "Hello World" commands.

But, seriously, DB isn't that hard to learn....whether it be Classic or Pro, they're relatively easy to pick up. Just make sure to keep at it and pushing your limits with new ideas and commands you've never tried. Look over some tutorial code and the manual, and, don't forget to press F1 when you need help

but if you learn in classic, you're doom 'cause most of the problems in that version is when you make a bug and you can't find it ^^

Dude, check out the stickies at the top of the forum. Looking through the code of the demos doesn't hurt either.
