Lots of people use the search, and no luck. I've seen millions of topics, but none helpful. I know many people (newbs) are always trying to make a MMORPG. I think it may be time to stop making fun of them, and actually help them. (Not saying I'm a total newb ), but are there any decent step by step tutroials that show you how to set make an account, login, actually play with others (being able to see them), and all this?

If there isn't, somebody should make one. Every week there is a new multiplayer question for DBC.

If there isn't anyone willing to, I will try to learn myself... (and give up miserably ). If I somehow succeed, I will post it here!

Thanks,
Kronos.

Xenocythe,

I do not have any knowledge on the subject of net games at this time. However, I do agree to you learning and then posting results. If maybe you have nothing else to do, it would be, as you stated, quite profitable to others who wish to learn on this subject.

I also agree that people should be helped more than shunned, in the forums. This is in a general sense. I do understand the opinions set forth by others towards the individuals who wish to dream of making such large projects. I myself seem to sometimes hold such thoughts, without words. But, if everyone is pessemistic, then we will definitely see no fruit bare, not even from them who accually have the potential to make such programs.

What then? Let us do what Xenocythe has spoken, and be more help oriented, rather than critical. Even, for the short-run at least, towards them who might not have the potential.

It would be very helpful, even when one has mastered every other command of the language, Multiplayer poses problems because of the fact that you can't easily use trial and error for it. You need two or more computers, and it's hard to debug because often the data doesn't even reach the other computer, so you have no idea what went wrong.

I would love a tutorial, example, or even a simple explination of how those things work.

I've never tried the multiplayer commands in DB, but I just had a quick look at the help and it looks fairly straight forward.

I have a network here and a machine which is permanently connected to the net on which an ftp server runs on.

I'll have a play and see if I can come up with a tutorial or at the very least, some guidelines for you.

OK - an update.

I just wrote a server in DB Classic using the multiplayer commands and ran it on my ftp machine on my network.

I then wrote a client and ran it on my own PC and it connected first time! It's a long time since anything's worked for me first time lol...

Anyway, compared to writing my chat client in Delphi, this is a breeze, so writing a tutorial on this (if no-one else has done one), should be a piece of cake.

I also have a virtual http which points to my ftp server here, so when it's finished, I can leave the server running, supply you with the conection info and you can see if your program connects onto it.

Who knows, I might turn it into a game of Pong that a couple of people can log onto and play each other!

I was once thinking of a 4 player chess game, when each persons army is on each side of the boadr (but the board would be bigger)
