I don't know if it's already been posted, but I searched and couldn't find anything. The rumours of an RE remake for the DS have obviously been circulating for ages, and NGC Magazine and Famitsu Magazine have both confirmed it. NGC stated that it would use the over-the-shoulder camera from RE4, but in the screenshots that have been released, it shows the normal 2nd person veiw (and 1st person when using the knife). So what do you guys think?

Personally, I would have preferred a RE game on the PSP, since the graphics (and possibly controls if using the analog nub) would have been better, but they still look pretty good. I will still get it, but it would have been scarier (in my opinion) if it had been on the PSP.

EDIT: On a side note, I though I would add that apparently zombies will be smarter and puzzles will utilize the touch screen.

My concearn is that a handheld RE game just would'nt be the same. There's something about playing on a big TV with the sound up and the lights out - it just draws you right into the action.

RE4 is the best survival horror game ever, I loved everything about that game, changing the viewpoint is not really necessary, I mean RE4 is the only 3rd person game I really play, usually the view mode annoys me - RE4 got it spot on.

I'd love to see a game like RE4 on a handheld, with 4 player link up, all battling the zombies like the start of RE4 in the village . I'd buy a DS just for that.

You've got a point, a game like RE4 on a handheld would rock. As you said, the problem about the real atmosphere of having the lights out raises another down point aswell. I personally am going to get it whether it is like RE4 or not, since I have been with the series since 1996.

I liked RE4, and it was fantastic, but I think this game will still bring back some nostalgia (ofcourse, REmake for NGC did that perfectly, and another one is not too necessary). I did hear that there is a possibility for multiplayer, which would be great.

I've been a fan since the playstation original, heck I was a fan from the moment I watched the demo video, getting the game after seeing that was a foregone conclusion and I've never really beem disapointed with the series. The one factor that is always lacking is the puzzles, they're always very easy - not like Silent Hill, that had me scratching my head in several places.

I still haven't played Res Evil Zero on Gamecube and I bought it when it first came out!, that's next on my 'must play through' list. I love these games but it is all about atmosphere. I mean, geeky as hell but having multiplayer games at night in eerie places might be a new and interesting way to play I suppose. Get 3 buddies with the game and DS's and go sit in a graveyard all night scaring the crud out of eachother .

Yeah. Let me get this straight - you bought RE0 and haven't played it!? It has to be my favourite of the series. The controls are a bit easier and the cameras arn't completely fixed. The puzzles are easy for the most part, as you said. I love Silent Hill, but for some reason I like RE more. The multiplayer idea of the graveyard would be so cool - I think I'd jump out of my hillbilly overalls if I did that.

Resident Evil 0 has the kickest-assest graphics for the time when it came out. Blew my mind, and consequently still blows it to this day.

Resident Evil 1,2,3 (psx) and Outbreak (ps2) are the best..

And I think that changing the camera because you changed
the weapon would be odd..

The only game that uses 1st and 3rd person cameras and is
cool is Battlefield (my opinion).. because it is much better
to control vehicles on 3rd person and 1st for walking
and shoting..

Yeah, so you can really hear them shout 'Amarilo' before lobbing one of their axes . Graphically I find RE4 stunning, but what I've seen of RE0 it looks very cool, I like the idea of controlling 2 characters - just kinda wish they'd made it a 2 player effort (there's no real reason why they could'nt have).

I'll be starting RE0 properly tonight, it'll be nice to get back to legitimate zombies, not just hicks . I just discovered yesterday that my 1.5 completed save game is gone - I wish I knew who to blame, I was playing through for the second time and was all tooled up, saving up for the unlimited ammo rocket launcher. Damn I hate memory cards.

1.5!? Do you mean director's cut? Because 1.5 was never released and I would do anything for that game!

Nah, I mean 1.5 times completed, like halfway through RE4 after completing it once - it's really worth playing through again getting as much treasure as is possible and totally pwning it - quite fun to play after your weapons are maxed out, gives you a real edge. I doubt I'll play through again now that my save game has gone.

Really they could have taken any other save game they wanted except that one! - it's like my Alundra debacle on the PSX - get to the very last stage and get stuck while I wait on someone wiping my memory card so I can start all over again. I think I'll go shopping tonight for a fresh card before starting RE0 .

One thing, I don't recall the Dreamcast RE game, anyone remember much about that? - I reckon I could find it in my local gamestation, but is it worth bothering with? (I'll get it even if it's just ok, I just don't want to buy a turkey).

Code Veronica? Personaly I liked it better than RE0. Being in 3d it had some really cool camera angles. The story line was probably my favorite of the series and if you want to understand RE4 you`ll have to play it. Of course the graphics and control is out dated but it`s still perfectly playable.
All in all it`s worth getting. Without a doubt. The puzzles are harder than the ones on RE0 and RE4. And I found the dificulty level better as well. Somewhere between easy and normal mode on RE0. Of course it could be because I was younger.

I have only hired Code Veronica, but I didn't think it had enough zombies (from what I played). The voice acting was about as bad as the rest of them (mind you, RE had the WORST voice acting - and that opening cutscene was just about the worst video clip in existence). It being fully 3D was good, which is what RE: DS is going to be. RE0 is still my favourite (as I already said)-there is just something good about killing zombies on speeding trains and mansion-esque training facilities .

I'm a Resi Evil fan too and Capcom did mention it according to IGN and I just love playing my Resi Evil even if its not all dark and atmospheric and would definatly but a DS version.

So far my favorite was RE4 then probably 0.

RE 5 looks killer though and I can't wait for that.

When I was rather little I rented Resident Evil and was scared poopless, didn't get into it until recently when I bought RE4. Now I'm off to get all the GCN remakes. The only other REs outside of the main sequel numbers is this really crummy arcade version, and Outreak at a friend's...it wasn't really good. RE4 was incredible though, so RE1 is next on my purchase list, then RE0.

I didn't like the 2nd and 3rd remakes huge downfall in my opinion. But I never could stand horror as a kid I saw the poltergeist and had nightmares for weeks. Of course now I love watching stuff like Saw and playing Resi Evil and other crap.

I have a DS and just bought advance wars, and i am loving it(even though i had to go to 5 different stores only to buy a reserved copy from an idiot at gamestop). I think the resident evil game will be awesome for it.

2 and 3 weren't remakes; they were direct ports.

If you ever hang out on Resident Evil fan-sites, I've often found it interesting that Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil Remake, are both seen as huge let-downs to the series.

Personally I can't help but think tha major reason people give the games so much grief is because they are GameCube only. Zero in particular almost every 'hardcore' fan I know will make fun of Rebecca, claim there is no story, and the game is too short.

Though imo, these people are the reason I got sick and tired of hanging around Resident Evil fan boards. I mean sorry but Resident Evil Remake is quite simply THE hardest of all of the games period.
I've played and completed the original, Code Veronica X comes close; but Remake is by far the hardest even on the easiest mode.

Ammo is scarse and your looking at unloading entire clips to take down zombies or such that will kill you in only 2 hits. Medical supplies are also very rare about the game. Oh and if you forget or can't burn the bodies of a dead zombie; a few minutes later they will reappear with puffs of smoke around them running super speeds and MUCH harder to kill.

I always felt Alien Vs Predator (playing as Humans or Aliens) was tough as nails, but Remake takes that crown with ease.

With the release of Resident Evil 4, I'll agree that it is by far the best in the series; hell it's definately earnt a placement in my best games list. Although personally I've always loved Resident Evil 0 as well. I mean one reason is it's the only exclusive GC game, which I personally waited since it was announced in 1999 for it to be released. Also because the characters in the game evolve.

Unlike the other Resident Evil's where characters are often 1-D and you know where you stand really. In Zero you start out with a very clear picture of Billy and Rebecca; yet throughout the game your perception of them changes, and thier relationship also changes from one of Officer & Prisoner... to people who would trust each other with thier lives. It also seems interesting to me how they're figuring out the story throughout; while obviously caught in the middle of the whole 'assasination plot'. The game adds to much to not only the history of Umbrella but some of the more mysterious characters like Wesker.

It's by far one of the easiest in terms of Zombie killing, but then Resident Evil 2 was quite easy in that way too; because only the numbers of them really make it more difficult. Still personally I don't see this as a bad thing. I know that I'm hardly amazingly good at these games (well RE4 I loved cause it was awesome being able to play similar to an FPS), but I've strongly felt that they were too hard for the adverage game on easy mode.

I don't care much how much more difficult that Production Studio 4 decided to make them for Normal and Hard modes... hell give users a knife and tie them to a super-zombie for all I care. For new people to the series or people like myself who prefer to explore everywhere and kill everything without trying to avoid as many monsters as possible. Well the games on the whole are a little too hard on Easy mode.

I find it a little annoying how because I've always found the games a little harder except Zero (I think it's difficulty settings were a perfect balance between the levels of player) and don't complete them in stupidly ridiculous times (someone completed RE remake in 2hr30min aparently... it took me closer to 13hours!) then I'm not considered some hardcore fan. Total BS if you ask me, cause I can tell you more about the story in all of the games than most of those self-proclaimed Hardcore fans. Who cares if you can complete a game if you never understood or even realised there was a plot behind it. They might as well go and play some typical mindless game like R-Type instead.

Yeah, RE4 is just a work of art - I mean they could make a whole series with those characters and that engine and I'd buy them all.

Just got both Dawn of the Dead movies on DVD, I'd love to see a Dawn game, like holding up in a mall just surving, finding safe locations etc. Survival horror is always strangely about solving puzzles and wiping out the zombies, when all we ever say when watching zombie movies is 'I reckon I could survive a zombie invasion'.

Heh heh, I want to see that zombie game for the 360 with the hordes of zombies, survival horror is cool, but sometimes you need a big-budget zombie game with some humor, Dawn of the Dead would be good, it was hysterical.

Not exactly Dawn of the Dead but a game that George A. Romero is working on:

I remeber at E3 they showed a game where you could control an army of the undead - I can't remember what it was called, but it looked really good.

Those pics are pretty low quality - the ones on [href]www.capcom.co.jp/ds_bio/[/href] are better looking in my opinion. Anyway, it'll be very interswting to see how it turns out (or if it is at TGS).

It was alright, but not the best. I found that it was very hard to replay and have fun at the same time.

Resident Evil Remake is teh fergin' best!
