I've took the time to make my own DB Classic contest.

Rules:

All games must be made in DarkBASIC Classic or Professional

There will be individual contests for newcomers, and veterean DB Programmers.

All games must follow the theme of the contests.

All games will be judged by me.

You must include source code, and a compressed file in which your game will be in.

The winners will recieve a free download of DarkBASIC Classic, and
DarkMATTER 1.

Newcomer Contest: Simple Arcade Games or A Text Game

That's right make a break-out, pong, or whatever. 2D or 3D.

Veterean Contest: 2D or 3D Platform Game

This is pretty straight-foward.

Contest Closes: October 21st, 2005.

Nice idea - personally, I like competitions, but I suggest you put your flame-proof jumper on as you are likely to get one or two negative comments.

You are relatively new to the forums and most people don't know you and may not trust you yet. How can they be sure they will get the prizes, or if they are 'legit'?

Why do you want the source code? Competitions usually only require the exe so no-one can steal their work.

Also, how can you have a DB Classic competition and still enter with DB Pro?

Be prepared...

I also picked up on the DB classic with Pro entries...

and also -- people coding in DBC don't need a free download of DBC! I already have it along with DarkMATTER, but it cost me 75 quid all those years ago

...maybe one day I'll finish a project

Some Guy is too much of a newbie to even judge entries. And way too much of a newbie to trust with code for a full game. I'm entering the next contest hosted by TGC... not Some Guy we barely know.

No post them here so I can download it. Post it has an attachment please. Man I guess I was stupid you get DarkMATTER now with DarkBASIC Classic and why would you need DBC if you have DarkBASIC Pro. 2 Levels ought to be enought for a platformer.

Your claims seem a little far fetched.
How would you get anyone the reward, anyways?
How is it determined whether one is an experienced DBpro programmer?
Why do you need source code? - the EXE is always better because it has the corect settings implemented and the author's work is protected.

And whay should we really join a competition hosted by some guy (pun intented).

Call me coder, love your Alien Destroyer game.

Normally contest rules don't allow a game to be entered that was made before the contest started.

It's okay dude. No doubt you added a bunch of custom tweaks to the games (I haven't downloaded them), but when dealing with competitions or things you would post in WIP people typically expect the gameplay logic to be of your own creation rather than just changing the look and adding interface features. Don't feel inadequate or anything though, doing just that is a good way to start learning a language or engine.
