I dont have a REAL HDD Fan, but i do have a spare computer that has a lack of a case, so it's sprawled out on my floor, and i had the Chasis fan just sitting there, so i figured i would just have it sit on top of the HDD, no Heatsink, no nothing, just needed to get it out of the way of wires, this HDD is a LOT cooler, whenever i leave my computer running and need to move the HDD BEFORE the fan was there, it was hot to touch, not now...it's just REALLY cool, and it's only a 80mm fan!
it surprises me, and honestly didnt think it would do anything! I might actually get a HDD fan now (if i get off my lazy butt and get a job )

My PC has three fans, one on the case, one on the processor, and one on the video card. They are all very effective, but there is one problem... They Are Way Too LOUD!!! Any Idea how to get my fans to run quieter? Sorry if this is a little off topic...

The computer isn't an addiction; it's more of a mental and social dependency.

GameKit, get yourself a fan controller. They're not much, a few quid but they allow you to easily change the voltage to your fans, reducing their speed, reducing the noise. If you need to, it's not a problem to knock them up a touch.

I use a fairly cheap water-cooling solution.
£50 cost me, but had the equipment to cover 1x GPU, 1x CPU, 2x RAM, 1x Chipset, 1x Hard Disk.

I've since bought some more extention equipment so it covered all three hard disks, and some other things; but it runs very quiet and cool. It uses fans to cool the water, but they're like case fans; which are extremely quiet. I also have 2 low-power case fans, they're not there to really cool but make sure the air-flow is good so that dust can't settle.

Dust on your connections is one of the main causes of system slow-downs. Especially on the RAM. Also can lead to short outs causing minor problems.
