hi, i've downloaded some of the games of the puzzle compo and some of the newest in program announcement, well i must say i'm amazed.
3 years ago a pile of unfinished games , some demos and a small collection of crappy games was all the showcase of dbpro/dbpro users abilities.
Now, 80% of the games can be in the 5 euros budget line and there's some hitgames that can be commercial without problems.
Well, good DBPRO but GREAT DBPRO USERS.

i agree - there was such a demotivation around here a few years back when the forum was in its infancy in poarticualr but now there is so much more expansion with DLL's and general knowledge, its hardly suprising that games are now developed in variety and completeness

Compo's are great for getting people to finish games, really the best thing is getting a game finished and to a deadline, more important than the prizes. The competition element just encourages people to make tidy front ends and get everything debugged etc, it kinda enforces a stricter quality because we know our games will be played by a good few people.

There are some great games in the showcase, mostly products of the competitions - it's exactly why these compo's are important and should continue.

Put those fiery biscuits away!

tnks Hawkeye, i was away for 1 month on holyday (Riccione, Italy, at sea)
Anyway, i'll be here for a long time 'cause i'm making a 3d platform game with the same graphic style of the sunday series. Funny (i hope so), freeware.

Megaton ... there's gonna be at least one game that'll make Blitz games look like a game of cup and ball.

blitz's games aren't so different from dbpro.
Just think best games of 80's and 90's haven't 3d or geforce card or PIV 3ghz... just some z80 and 68000 but a lot of fun and good ideas.
so, DBPRO can be really the tool nr 1 of the sunday programmers , you don't need an incredible coding tool, but a good one and all the stuff are upon you.
