It needs a shortcut key to open new tabs, rather than having to right-click on a current tab to open a new one. And my browser seems to run a bit slower now.
And don't trust their included spyware removal tool. It claims limewire is adware and Morpheus includes a hijacker. And to remove the file it detected, it'll remove the entire application and folder contents.

Ok, it does have shortcut keys, you just access the options through a stupid webpage.

IE7 has tabs - and pretty nice they look too. To simply open a new tab you just click the empty area to the right of the rightmost tab. Seems much easier then right clicking and choosing new tab or using a menu.

Will check out this site

[edit] I've installed it and I think I like it. It's all very simple. Opening a new tab isn't as easy as IE7 is (the buttons are on the other side of the screen) but it all fits in with the IE look and feel. Pretty cool really. Although I wish there was a way to remove the search box, I already haev the google toolbar...

Mmmm. Been using IE7 for a while now, and am getting a little annoyed with it. Sure the tabs are better than the IE 3rd party tabs I tried, but it is missing one thing that FF does brilliantly. Unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be the option to open a whole favourites folder into tabs. That is so useful in FF. eg. Every day I check up on a couple of dozen web comics, and is so much easier to open the whole lot into tabs then click the single tab close button on the far right as you read each one. Tops.

Oh, and IE7's layout is cack. Is another beta out yet? Haven't checked in a while. I mean the toolbars are stupidily ordered, but what is up with the refresh/ cancel etc. button being so far to the right? On my main displays (1600x1200 and 1920x1200) it's like an annoying distance away. And a teeny button. Grrr...

Still, it seems a little faster than IE6, so not bad.

Cheers

I just uninstalled it, it was too buggy and really starting to annoy me. I didn't know IE7 was released.

It's beta. You can only get it if you are on MSDN.

Mozilla does it again. Awesome.

Phaelax: Microsoft had to update their Anti-Spyware program after it identified IE6 as spyware *sniff* Priceless

I guess the free anti-spyware programs just are not that good....

It'd probably be wiser to try and get it off MSDN.

Yeah, I got just got it from a download site, it works great. I honestly use it now over Firefox, I like the tab system better, and I actually don't mind the new layout. Nice to switch it up a bit. The interface is so clean. Very few buttons, and the Phishing detector is something that every browser should have. It actually tells you if the site you're is a fake and asks you to send it in, so they can add it to their database. Probably the same reason Microsoft Anti-Spyware works so well.

I'm starting to gain more confidence in Microsoft.

Why? At the end of the day it's not as if you are actually going to pay for it when it comes out. I mean it will be free to download and will come with the newest releases of windows. Is only MS's shortsightedness that basically stopped them from allowing anyone to download and test it, apart from full MSDN subscribers. It's hardly a £3k app like Max.

Unless you mean too good to be true in a put together by hackers kinda way. Heh, actually I can't see what couldn't be cobbled together with a visual studio language and a net plugin (you could fake the pishing stuff to make it look like it's doing something for example). Piece of p**s basically. Especially since the "clean" layout mentioned above, basically means pretty simple layout.

Cheers

Nah, I mean it's a closed beta being offered public.

Think it is still closed. But people have been sharing the download around.

Originally, yes. I believe Netscape branched off though, but I may be wrong. Still, Firefox must be ages ahead of IE .

Yep. IE7 seems quite speedy actually.

Oh ang on, I have FF on here too...... but I *have* to choose one of the totally free, easy to flip from one to the other, browser packages (and wear the T-Shirt)! NOOOOO!!!!!!

Cheers

Ps. IE7 is like at least a decade ahead of FF. Thought I would just say that for no reason, without any proof or backup etc. BTW, the next patch of FF is supposed to be at least a century ahead of IE9. I think...

Really? Firefox seemed faster when I got it, though I hear that if you have some bad 3rd party extensions installed it can get slow. E.g. I had this one RSS feed tool that somebody had made and it worked great. Except if you clicked a link or tried to go somewhere before the entire page loaded. Then it wouldn't go anywhere, and I had to reopen the browser. Got rid of that extension real quick...

Dazzag: They're working over on mysterious Deer Park version of FF on the Mozilla site, that's supposed to be the next big version.

Dude, I don't actually care. I mean it's a browser right? And I can change at will? Yep.... erm....

Although personally I have fond memories of Mosaic from early 90's. Ah, those were the days... (rose tinted glasses etc).

As you can see, I have IE and tabs, and have done for a couple of years. Crazy Browser is freeware, not adware, and has tabs, slideshows, groups (I have one fore all the DB boards I look at), had anti-popup before IE did, and an extra layer of security. Plus, all your IE sessions are just one icon on the menu bar.

I believe Mozilla was actually the code name for Netscape, then it was released as OS and went off in it's own direction.

just a quick question - does IE 7 have dodgy css support, or have microsoft changed that?

Part of solving the problem is actually noticing that the problem is there in the first place
