I'm very sorry if this was already resolved or discussed, but I did a search and I could not find this topic, or a solution.

It seems that almost all the new DBPro programs I run after version 5.8 I get the exception about d3dx9_24.dll is not there. I have the runtime 9x9c installed and do not have any comercial game troubles... I run Half Life 2 and the like and no problems.

Is there a patch or something I missed. I ran windows update and nothing new comes up. Anyone?

I have 5.8 and I don't get that on anything I compile, though I've noticed it on stuff I've checked out from others. I don't know which version they were using, I'd assume 5.8 on some of it though.

I heard mention something about re-installing DirectX 9c would fix this issue...haven't tried it myself though. Could give you something to try , sounds like a load of hogwash to me.

I think you have downloaded the first release of 5.8.Download the latest release(available on the home page) and install, and all should work then.

certain games i play one is enter the matrix i will get to a certain spot and the game will crash. So it could be that your working on a program that is complex. Try a simple program like making a cube.

There are 2 releases of DBP 5.8 ... the public 5.8 (one on the upgrades page) only requires DirectX 9.0C end user runtime and there was another version (with alot more bug fixs than the public version) that required the DirectX DSK redistributable feb 2005 runtimes. The second is the reason you get that error.

[edit] Even more sad is the fact that they deleted all of the bug reports that you could have looked at to know this as well as several other bug reports that are still in DBP 5.8 public but not in the sdk version

Ok so why are peopl developing with a version that Microsoft doesn't even support. That DLL is not included in MS' latest SDK. And well b/c the prior one was a beta or some thing similar.

No I don't have that problem when I compile, I mean when I try to run other peoples stuff. Lots of stuff in the showcase will not run b/c I got the message. But this is not just only DB, this is something that has affect a lot of just Directx programs when MS decided to make the update.

I have the lastes version of everything, and still could not play those things. And no such file exists in the uptodate Directx. I did figure out how to get dll and I was able to get the program to run the otherday. But this is not eceptable as a fix b/c ditribution of the dll is illegal. So I'm going to make it a point to inform anyone who compiles something that will not run b/c of this should recopile with up to date Directx. For some reason it had something to do with the SDK.

If anyone figures out another solution orther than having to find that darn dll and copy it I will be greatful.

Cheers

Eh ? Its not a problem with DBPro (although the demos could be compiled with version that did originally need the SDK dll's (the latest version is availiable by downloading the DX SDK).
