Why are you incapable of searching the forum? This has been answered many, many times before.

Basically, you have been 'noob slap'd. When this is in effect, your post has to be approved by a moderator before it can 'get through' onto the forum.

New users start with an automatic noob slap, but also moderators can hand out noob slaps if they feel someone ought to be 'watched over' for a while.

It lasts about a month or two, but no-one will answer you if you ask exactly how long.

And all of that you could've found out if you'd just bothered to use the 'Search' button.

Well the problem is
1) I am not a new user (about 4 month be for you)
2) I never said or did anything wrong to get the noob slaps as
you call it
What I had read was what was listed when I tried to post
That's why I asked

In that case, I don't know.

(With regards to the '4 months before you' thing - 2004, 2005, what's the difference anyway?!)

You're still new to posting if you've only posted a few times. If you've been araound not posting for your time than just post reasonable stuff enough and your slap should be off in under a week.

They must have just recently started the automatic noob-slap thing because I never got one when I first came to the forums, but I probably should have, looking back at my first threads I needed it .

you probably didnt post enough. did you leave the forums shortly after joining and just came back yesterday? i joined january and i didnt become regular user until last week. it probably also depends how many posts you have that passed mod inspection.

edit: also try to get as many posts in as possible without spamming, so like post on game theory and newcomers corner too.

Noob slapping is actually quite rare, we'd only noob slap someone who was posting innapropriately, like making inflammatory comments or spamming (posting useless comments just for the sake of it) - people who come along get on with being normal tend not to be noob slapped ever - in fact I'd say the vast majority of slaps are issued because of silly posts in general discussion or off-topic arguments.

It's most likely the post count that was low, sorted now though so all is well.

*BUZZ* wrong answer, freddy.

Noone except Rich ( the admin ) knows exactly how long the slapping lasts for for new users.

IFYPFY.

Jokes aside, no, I don't know how long the slap lasts for. But for your average garden grown non-MMORPG-oriented n00b, it seems to last a few months... right?

so the inspection of messages is called "noob slapping"? so if a mod posts and says "im slapping you for a day" does that mean all your posts that day are inspected?

Yes, if I noob slap someone for 24 hours, all their posts in that 24 hours need to be approved. Every user starts at a 'n00b' status, whereas ALL of their posts need to be approved. After they get a certain number of posts (Only Rich knows) approved, then they are a regular user. This helps prevent from robotic registrys and automatic spam posting.

I don't think there is in your profile. But, when you post it lets you know that it needs approving. When you aren't being "Noob slapped" it normally just posts. My "noob" period lasted only a day or two.

Here's an idea:

Anybody that is currently being slapped they have the same exact avatar (something that animates "Newbie"). It can't be changed and once the slap is over the avatar is automatically changed to "no avatar selected" which will allow the user to change the avatar to whatever they want.

A nice little red hand icon by their name would do, too.

Even just a new rank. I only see two different user ranks... Moderator, and User. Why not add "Newbie" for anybody that's currently being slapped?

I think their should be an emoti-icon that has a hand slapping, so it would indicate a noob slap

Wait! This might work: !!! (It might be too small... but it should be red instead)
