Can someone please explain why DarkEDIT is a better IDE?
I know the deal with all the resolution switching with minimising and it tells you what line you're on, but can someone tell me other reasons than that why its better?

Silent Knight,

The original DarkBasic IDE only allows for you to open up two files for editing at a time. This can be very restraintful and time-consuming if your project contains multiple #include files, in that you are working on simutaneously. DarkEdit allows for many, many files to be open at one time, with quick and easy switching between the each of them. Also, since DarkEdit is in a Windows environment, you can switch from DarkEdit to any other program easily and quickly. In the DarkBasic IDE you would have to close down what you are doing and then open up the other program, whatever that program may be. Lastly, the DarkBasic Interpreter does not have to be loaded to edit files in DarkEdit. Therefore, it has a much faster loading time. It is overall, a much better editor. Trust me.

Xenocythe,

Have you set its internal properties? You have to set them or it will not work.

Yes, read the instructions and configure the settings as required to work with your installation of DarkBasic. Once that's done, you'll find it's a much better way to write software with DB (and more stable).

You should try TDK's editor instead of that crummy old DarkEdit. Although, for now DE is better (somoewhat) only because TDK's editor is still a wip (if that).

DarkEdit also makes the commands dark red if they are correct syntax, which really helps when debugging
