Hi there,
Was anyone else glued to the TV last night when we beat the mighty England?

I don’t want to rub any English noses in it as I will be supporting them as the only home nation in the world cup but last night was a truly joyous moment for us.

That win was like winning the world cup for a small nation such as ours. There was singing in the streets until I went to bed at three in the morning and it probably continued long after that. I could hear car horns being blasted all over town.

Well done to all the England fans that came over, there was a great friendly atmosphere and on the early news they showed England and Northern Ireland fans drinking together in the crown bar in Belfast. No incidents and no arrests after the match, good show by all.

Sympathy to England but I’m sure you can win the last two and get through. I hope so or I will not have anyone to support in the world cup.

In the future we will not spank the monkey, the monkey will spank us.

Nice one. I was so caught up in our own glory I never even looked at the other results. I will of course support Scotland as there is a strong Northern Irish connection there, as well as a strong presence in my club side (Everton). David Moyes is currently my favourite Scottish person.

Looks like the ROI might be out of contention after that loss to France, which is a shame as they always put on a good show in big international competitions.

In the future we will not spank the monkey, the monkey will spank us.
