What is the most important console commands?

Turning on/off fps counter is important in a game.
Loading the savegame from the console is important too.
Using cheats is also important.
A savescreenshot command is very good in a console.
Turn on/off cell shading is usable too.

Any other important commands?

Very handy, I agree.

Most games have a hotkey to do this, yet quite handy.

I disagree, most gamers don't need to use cheats.

I guess so, if you're too lazy to press Print Screen and open mspaint

I don't know of a game where you get this option, well, I'm not aware of any.

I think a command to quit a game fast, rather than go through menus just to quit it - would be great, expecially if you need to leave quickly .

Cheats are important to have in non-online games, for they help users/developers debug and have fun. Wireframe rendering modes and turning textures off could be good things to add.

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

For wireframe just look at SET OBJECT. Not much effort there.

A console command for screenshot that you can map to a key is EXTREMELY important, especially if the game is a first person shooter. You could use print screen, but what if you want to take a bunch of shots in a row without having to quit the game? My friend does that because he loves to screw around online and hits the screenshot key whever he sees something awesome, and it usually is pretty awesome.

Make it so you can edit some of the game variables in console, like gravity (host only of course). Also include other host commands for kicking players, changing maps, etc. Also, some CS servers have some fun addon host commands that funny things like literally kicking a player so that they fly forward and take damage. It's useful if hosts want to give warnings, or if everyone in the game's just in a screwing around mood.

Personally I wouldn't have a esc key to exit, I don't know why, but any button near that key, I end up hitting the esc key.

I'm tired about these jokes about my huge hand...

You could always turn off ESC (if you made the program)... or pop it off your keyboard (if you didn't).

Rather than have the 'take a screenshot' from the console, you could make the game check for the print screen key, so when it is pressed it saves the screenshot automatically, and you don't have to type anything in(and you don't have to switch programs).
