Platform ->PS2

@Deep Thought, the FF's are great except the recent ones have let people down, hopefully making spin offs/sequels of the greatest FF game will not let us down more, besides FF is a great game, people can't complain about FF's when there are loads of MMORPG's that are the same, a load of D&D based games, Star Wars games, Lord Of the Rings games, and well, when it said on Sky One for the Star Trek advert, it said 'The last episode of Star Trek: Voyager' I thought woot, nope, it was the end of the series

I never really liked RPGs. When the latest Lord of the Rings for Gamecube came out I was severly disappointed that the made it into an RPG. I prefered the hack-&-slash in the Return of the King game.

I don't like the idea behind Dirge of Cerberas. I mean aside from the fact I never actually got that character in Final Fantasy VII despite the number of times I played it... never knew he existed until I saw this and my brother was "oh you get him in that theme hotel in the golden tree thing".

For the PSP though they've changed it to some silly action-adventure crap.

The recent Final Fantasy games on the whole haven't been grand though. Don't get me wrong they're good games, but FF-X and FF-X2 were real weak-points in the series. XI unfortunately has limited availability in the west, especially the Playstation 2 version (I certainly can't sodding find it sold anywhere in Europe!)

There is a huge hope that XII will really bring to the small screen what X should've been. Based in the XI world is going to really help people identify with it more too I think.

Wish they'd seriously re-release VII for the Playstation 3 / X-Box 360 though. Look forward to opening my copy of Final Fantasy XI for the X-Box 360 on release though. Pre-Ordered it recently, just case of like the 3-5month wait heh.

Let down is an understatement. Its sort of like they went years ahead in graphical quality, story interest, and sound quality, but about 15 years back in gameplay. I never thought I'd see a FF without the ATB after 6... I was quite wrong when 10 was unveiled. Thats what pissed me off the most, I couldn't switch over to the much funner, bash down enemies in a ATB type setting. I hope FFXII has an amusing battle system, that will allow me to decided if I want battles that take ages because I have to wait for each individual turn (Which this slow pace also made the game so damn easy, because they didn't really change the challenge curve...), or if I want to just blast through the game, chopping my enemies verrily.

WTF? You get him-

*spoiler*

Unless of course, its different in the European version... in which case, I feel like an ass.

: shrugs : I only know what he told and showed me. Never seen him personally, no idea if it's a variation in the versions.

It might just be a second way to get him if you miss him the first time, like there's 2 ways to get Yuffie. They're both characters that are just sub-quest thingies. Probably why I never found him heh :p

Very true, FFX was okay, but X:2 was far far too tarty, and lacked story line.

I'm disappointed with XI because they made it an MMORPG that you had to pay monthly for, what a rip.
XII looks good, but hopefully it makes up for X/X2

I heard somewhere, just as a rumour, whether its true or not, but supposedly Square are gonna rerelease it on the PS3, hopefully the rumour is true.

Brother said the same, but personally I find it seriously worth it.
They charge you in Dollars too, so it ends up being about half the cost you expect it to be.

I mean World of Warcraft is like what £9.99 / month which only allows you to have a single character. Most MMOs are quite expensive and require your full attention to achieve anything.

FFXI however is like £6-7 for the main account + 50p for each additional account. It's a very open and forgiving MMO as well.. Seriously it's one of those things that once you play it, even if you don't like it at first you find yourself thinking 'well maybe another hour'.

It's about the only MMO I've played for more than just the first month. Seriously I've a string of MMO games that I've bought, played like crazy over one or two weekends when I've been free... then they've just started gathering dust as the whole 'new game' experience wears off.

When your paying monthly it's not something you want, so often it's a case of never getting past the free trial for me. It's not a case of not wanting to pay but honestly loosing interest.

Final Fantaxy XI however keeps me commming back. I find myself getting in a sneaky hour or two before work, or before bed. Just something about it that makes it so enjoyable. And it sure as hell ain't the community cause most of the people online barely talk to you. You get some that do, but most just ignore you.

After a while you'll fall in with a bunch of people and reside mostly in your linkshell while doing some menial tasks around the place.

Personally I think Square-Enix and Sony have been stupid not to advertise it and try to capitalise on the fact it's just so damn addictive; like tetris, or snake.

Is there such thing? Yeah I played runeScape a bit, but got bored quickish, well if its an addictive one, I'll take ur word for it.
Mind you, you can find that with final fantasys, FFVII I completed on the PSone years a go, so I sold it, regretted, got it for PC 3 years a go, sold it for a bundle on amazon...and I regret it, same for FFVIII (but I haven't sold it yet for PC) and well and the other ones too.

I'll prolly get it with my next pay, then I'll have something to put onto my sig game wise (to believe the only game Xfire can detect installed is Kal online, and I don't play it, I'd thought they'd have FF8 in their databases)

First off, Final Fantasy X or X.2 was not a disappointment, or a let down, ok so the storyline was a bit iffy. Big deal.

Final Fantasy VII is the best, generally because the storyline, the battle scenes, the music, were all just perfectly attached to each other.

Final Fantasy VIII is my second best, great storyline, better looking characters, a bit more 3d, better graphics.

Final Fantasy VXII isn't really that sort of game I liked to much, I did complete it, but when I look back, sometimes I ask myself, what was I thinking.

Final Fantasy X, this game was a majour game release, not only did it bring in new people playing, but the graphics were amazing. I say Amazing! I loved the storyline, it has to be one of the most emotional storylines I have ever played, what else can I say, Brilliant.

Final Fantasy X.2, I wasn't expecting much of anything 'New', but I was expecting a little bit 'Different'.
I did see a majour improvement in this series from FFX, once again great storyline, with a great 3-6 different endings (Seen Em All, All Great), very upsetting seeing Yuna not re-uniting with Tidus, but hey, GG!

'When Will Final Fantasy Be Final'
Proberly not for a while, let's face it, people want their games, their still making a ton of money, why would they just END ?

For those who are saying it's crap, I think you need to at least try it, if you still think it's crap, then more fall you.

I can't wait to play the next series, only I do have one slight problem with SquareSoft, why did they put FF on that crappy gamecube, I mean, you had great graphics in ps2, why did you fall back? Nutters!, What were they thinking now o.0

Final Fantasy is the only game that I will always rmember (Dunno Why), I actually would like to re-create a game like that myself one day (Yea, liek thats ever going to happen, dream on!)

Like Star Trek, terribly acted, terrible storyline, terrible effects, terrible music, and people still go nuts for it, at least Final Fantasy rules.

Same for Star Trek, tried it, burst out laughing insanely, watched the new movie, not so funny, but still very silly, and well, you know where they got the actors...a star trek convention.

PS: Soz for Star Trek referances, but it couldda been Charmed, Stargate SG-1 or anything else popular and IMHO insanely silly.

FFX, was fine, played it, enjoyed it, lacked the FF wow, as you said big deal, but still was a disappointment, and well there are bit I didn't like about it.

FFX2, managed to complete it yes, because they managed to get an addictive gameplay in, although, very easy to complete, and I liked the idea of switch back to the jobs like in FFV(or was is FFIV, I forget) but....what really gets me down is the principle, presentation and storyline, you play as three tarts, one trying to be goth, your enemy, is a vain cow, and bits are too girly, and then comes the pop singing, and well, among other elemements, I don't like that, its like playing Phantasy Star or Quake/Doom as Britney Spears (differance is, that would be funny)

Seppuku Geijutsu if you wanner have a go about a crap game, go talk about kingdom of hearts, now that stinks!

Everyone is different, I respect your motal opinion about the game, in some respects I think you are correct.

If the game focused more on better enemies, and characters, i' sure the game could of been more fun? But would it?

Think about it, people wanner see something that's not soo real, like instead of having a game with real looking people all the time, lets have something stupid for a laugh, that's what makes the game more creative.

I can't say I would very much play FFX/FFX.2 again, however, I still like to load up FF7/8 once in a while.

Yep, we all have opinions, and were here to discuss them...I heard Kingdom Hears is good, meh, if it ever reaches gamecube I'll buy it, if not I won't (I have little GC games, and well the RPGs don't look so good for it )

waaa waaa?
World of Warcraft=10 characters/per server
$15.00/month(I think you can pay every 6 months or yearly which would be $10.00/month)

Final Fantasy is kinda like the staple console RPG. I'm sure there would be a lot mre and a lot of games with similar names, like Tactics, tactics advance, and Crystal Chronicles. And I think FF XII looks very promising, surely a step above FFX-2.

About Diege of Cerebrus, it looks like a third person shooter, is it?
