Due to a somewhat nasty accident, whenever I double click on a folder now it opens a command window with the directory set to the folder I clicked on. I've tried Tools>File Options>File Types>Advanced, but there is no "explore" or "open" entry there! I would attempt making my own, but I don't know the parimters. I've poked around in the regestry editor a bit, but of course haven't tried anything too drastic. Well actually I have, but it didn't help much

Anyhow, it's not that much trouble to "right click, explore" but it's a pain when I double click on something and and get a command window. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Isn't this to do with the Classic Windows / WindowsXP style folders option?

I don't know if I am fully understanding you, but you would need to go into Folder Options, and change it to Windows Classic.

If it helps...

My "FILE FOLDER" has no default option - only things like open command window here its (all the extra ones you get right clicking).

My "FOLDER" has an option of "explore" and it isn't default (nor is the other, open). Perhaps adding an explore to the FOLDER type pointing it to explorer.exe might help.

In those file types "File Folder" needs to be defaulted to "find", and then your "Folder" needs to be defaulted to "explore".

Hope that helps!

Heh, fast responses... I tried setting "File Folder" to find, but then when I open a folder I get the search prompt with the doggie

Anyways, I created a explore option and it works fine, only now I get a new window for every new window like the old win98 config Much better than what it was, but still... not.... perfect....
