Hey,

I was working on a fighting game to impress the people who are in my class at school.

The sprites used in this game are pictures of me, my teacher, and people in my class. I did that just to make it a little humorous.

Here are some screenshots:

It was hard to come up with some good pictures, so I just had to wing it.

So far I have a single player mode and a two player mode. In the future I hope to have a tournament mode and online mode. But that will come later. There is music and sound effects.

To give you guys a better idea on what this game is about, I am attaching the most up to date version I have at the moment. When it is complete I will be releasing it with full source code and media for DBP.

Please leave any comments or suggestions. I am looking to improve the game, but I need to know how to improve it.

Thanks,
Nicolas R / The Lone Programmer

LOL,

Thanks FXGAMER. Do you have any suggestions for me? I am in the process of adding Fatalities and a better damage code.

If you downloaded the version I have uploaded, the emtpy player box on the player selection screen is really a player. I just haven't captured a mug shot from him yet.

He has a shocking resemblance to me but we are of no relation.

If anyone else wants to give me their opinion, whether it be good or bad, let me know.

Thanks,
The Lone Programmer

It's a good idea to make games that include images of real people. I think that it does impress most people, and there might be some sort of franchise for such products. I saw on the news many years ago, a company was doing just that.

FXGamer I know the glitch you are talking about.

For any character that did not have a proper fight sprite, it is temporarally a picture of me. Once the people in my class do as I ask and wear the clothes I took pictures of them in, then I can add more.

Lol, I think it's a great idea. Did you make the backgrounds or are they from somewhere else? Can't download demo right now but will get it asap and tell you what I think.

The backgrounds and music are ripped off from MK2 at the moment. They will get changed at the last minute.

Just did a small update to the game in the little time that I've had.

Instead of replacing a non existing fight sprite with a picture of me, I just removed the move for the character. I will re-add the moves without images once my buddies wear the same outfits.

I also added a finish him pop up for when HP is less than 10 but greater than 0. When this happens, the character you are finishing cannot move or attack. This will set me up for when I finally add fatalities.

Still working on the proper damage code so that way you can't cheat my fight system.

Here is the latest version:

Here is some more pictures of the game:

Please keep up with the reviews.

Thanks,

I program alone. The people in my game have little or no programming knowledge at all. They know very little QBasic at the most.

I accomplish more by myself than with a group. You can't rely on others when working on a project. They either won't get the job done, or will turn on you in the end.

It feels better to say you made a good piece of work when you made it by yourself. It also adds a little more respect towards the programmer for being able to do such a thing by his or herself.

Those are just my little opinions.

Hey this looks pretty cool. I'm going to check it out and edit this post.

Geez, now I know why you call yourself the lone programmer... Looks like you'll be staying away from all big business.

EDIT:
LMAO oh that was so funny. It is cute too. And I started laughing so hard when I knocked they guy out and it went straight to credits with Kong fu fighting...lol Its pretty funny how when the characters jump they like change ... like the pictures were taken another day in different lighting and scalled differently. But it is really cool.

I hope you put in the round systems soon. But the credits and the chosen track was funny and reminded me when they put a movie on tv and they run the credits fast becasue they don't have time...lol

Good Stuff.

GREAT!

You could try to keep those sprites in a 360° slow paroramic 3D view. It could be very impressive!
