Sorry if this is old news and been posted before, but I've only recently come across this demo and was blown away by it!

http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=/demos/groups/farb-rausch/fr-025-final.zip

It's called The Popular Demo, is approximately an 8MB download and needs a fairly decent GFX card to run. (In case you've already seen it and therefore save you a wasted download, it's the '70's disco' demo).

Pffft. Tell them to squeeze it into 64kb, haha ^_^ I hate these demos... they kinda remind me that my b0x is old.

It's old, but it's stunning One of my all time favs, along with VIP2 Invite-tro by Popsy Team, Legomania by Doomsday, Toys, Sunflower by Tesla and the best 64ktro ever - Candytron! (FR030)

Really ought to check out this years big releases, just had no time!

A great many people think they are thinking when they are really rearranging their prejudices.

that was pretty awesome, felt like a well design music video you'd see on the Box or MTV.

very fast too, I mean my FX 5200 ran it flawlessly at over 60fps.
the animation was bit ropey though, for some reason the main guy danced slower than like the 50-odd others on-screen when he was dancing against the crowd. Also think the model could've had a bit more depth to it. Felt like a poser model.

still good though

That was kick-arse!

I would've loved it even if it was a pre-render, but to kick all that out on my PC in real-time... That's sweet.

Candytron! Woo, that kicks arse too!

I love these demo's ( esp the 64K ones... Just stunning! ).

Pincho:

Oh come on... Surely you have to be a little bit impressed with it?

I can always admire something something I could never dream of being able to re-create myself. They are some very clever coders.

I couldn't write anything coming remotely close to that in 800MB - never mind 8MB!

ah! Pincho is being mr cool, actualy he was bouncing around the room and strutting his stuff to that , he just knows we can`t see it so he can act like "da man", all poise and coolness , it was very good, I could write something like that, I just couldn`t think of something like that in the first place to write (plus the graphics would suck bigtime if I had a hand in it )

the average IQ is 100...but the people that took the test where trying to look smart. most people don`t go over 50.
Area 51?, I`m more intrested in what they have in areas 1 to 50

It's pretty impressive what sceners can do. They should put their time into making games!

Little fact - the demo scene inspired trackers (music software) and is the main reason why the came about as the demoscene needed high quality music making use of real sound clips with a minimum possible filesize. I use Skale tracker now, which is a modern remake of Fast Tracker 2, which came from Fast Tracker which was inspired by Mod Tracker which was the first .MOD format which was used in all the early demos. So there's a huge history to the music side of these demos, aswell as the visuals.

I did the benchmark and got 20672 popstones at 1024x768 resolution..

It was a pretty neat demo.. But definately old.
