For all you FF7 fans out there, it may please you to know that the new movie is finally out...after like five years or something. I've seen it, it wasn't english, but I think I got most of it (i made general assumtions by looking at the pictures). Truly inspiring stuff by S.E.

Here's what happened (or what I understood of it):
(this is one BIG spoiler, so read at your own risk)

(I left out some large points , but thats the general story. The lower you read, the more spoilerific it gets...

That I don't know. But I was just reading around, looking for the same thing, and found this interview with Tetsuya Nomura:

Quote: "
1UP: OK. My last question is, the FF7 tech demo for PS3 is very provocative. And there are only probably about 15 million people out there who would like to see it become a game. Is he as interested in seeing an FF7 remake as everyone else is?
"

Quote: "
Tetsuya Nomura: The PS3 tech demo was actually not the perfect forum that he wanted to have. It was just timing that we had to submit something in time for E3, for the press conference. So, again, it was not perfect forum. And the 7 remake idea was always, always in conversation, just because it's so popular. And then just because of that tech demo here in the PS3 conference, that probably based more expectations of fans, obviously. And Kitase-san already has told Nomura-san so many times that if there is a remake, that should be created by Nomura. But, again, Nomura-san has so many other projects lined up already in the future schedule, so it's almost impossible to think about that and squeeze that in. But if there is a right time, it would be interesting to create."

...pretty cool. They might remake FF7. Anyway, though it was relevant (this being about FF7 and all).

the fight scenes were good. movie had a japanise style in it. but that is probably needed since FF7 is a jap game anyway.

Hopefully it won't suck like the first one. God that was so rubbish. Nice effects, but this doesn't help if you want to kill yourself half way through. Oh, and suprisingly I wasn't that blown away by the visual effects, but the sound effects have got to be the best I've ever heard. It's that good. Almost bought the movie (rented it) just for that one and only reason (ie. a fantastic Dolby Digital demo disc).

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

sweet...one question, is there English subtitles on the Japanese DVD? I wanna know because I watched the trailer and thought american accents in English language would spoil it, its something that shoulf be done in Japanese with subtitles, like all Japanese movies, Azumi would have been spoilt if it was in English

I'll be honest enough to say that I've seen the movie illegally. Japanese+subbed.

Schite, it sucked. I haven't played the game (and I don't intend to play it), but IMO it's not a good way to introduce FF n00bs like me to the series.

i dont think they set it for noobs to ff7, it's more for the "fans" of ff7 as a follow up story to the game, since they had a few holes in the story. this will only extand and close the holes.

read the credits and you'll see "fans of ff7"

Quote: "Too many useless characters, no character development, no evident
story, too many "White Screens," non-sensical dialogue, majority of the
characters aren't even introduced or called by name, a stupid scene
where everyone else "keeps boosting Cloud up in the air so he can
catch up to big nasty flying monster thing," pretty much the movie left
me thinking wtf was going on"

Now I can't wait to see it
