I am having a very weird problem with my pc
pictures and menus will just go corrupted(just the display) and now windows media player refuses to play video(just shows a blank screen)
could anyone tell me what this is
btw i got mediaplayer 10

make sure you have the codecs installed,
DivX seems to be a really popular one lately, and it plays weird garbage all over if you are playing a DIVX movie with no codec installed...

But i'm not sure what the problem is, maybe a screen shot?

aside from the really weird panel of colors on windows media player look at paint icons

well how could that cause problems with everything else and please please dont tell me i need to reinstall windows (i just reinstalled it 2 weeks ago,upgraded to xp)

edit:
switching video settings fixes it for a little bit but it comees back later

Just a stab in the dark, since everyone else is either ignoring this or sleeping.

Try updating your video drivers
Try reinstalling Windows Media Player
Try updating your codecs

ok i will try that, ever since my last video mode change i havent got any problems(that was about an hhour ago)

What do you mean by video mode change? Also make sure you have all the updates for Win XP since you just upgraded. There are tones of them. I personally would also recommend service pack 2 if you don't already have it. And he most likely suspect is your video card drivers IMO. What are your system specs?

should fix it, probably you have xp incompatable drivers for the video card.

by switching video mode i mean switching from 16 bit to 24 bit and back to 16(a lot of things i run dont like 24 bit)

umm its an onboard and i havent seen any software that can get its temp

another thing, this was happening when i first started my pc
