we seem to be suddenly getting people asking for recruitment of programmers to write numbingly simple code for huge sums of money, we had some guy who ostensibley wanted to get some code for a museum exhibit, now we have some guy asking someone to write simple apps for a TV company for 30k a year.

I have been on these forums for a long time (and the one before this, and the one before that too) and to me this smacks of that spurious big prizes competition that came up on the old US forums (Guy Savoies), it even fooled GUY and TGM into accepting/endorseing it, could it be the same people?, maybe these posts should be deleted or at least verified in depth, the last attempted scam was even backed up by what looked like a genuine website etc, do any of you mods recall this? (I think TDK man would)

we know where area 51 is, but where are areas 1 to 50?, and what do they do there?.

Thanks.

I've directed the first guy to Rich. The second topic VanB had already posted in, so I just posted the link to the TR request guidelines.

Nooooo! It's those trash TV programs where a bimbo stands and talks nonsense for 30 minutes non-stop, and then nobody wins a thousand pounds!

If you haven't seen them, they're pretty bad, and a complete con. Sorry if you read this Telecoms TV person, but you know I'm right! They go like this...

Hello!

How many "L"s are in this sentence?

Dozens of people call an expensive number with answers like 1, 3, 6... In the last few seconds someone calls and says "2!". But they're wrong, the answer is something ridiculous like 367...but they don't tell you why!

The guy who posted about the TV job is genuine and it's a good opportunity for someone.

Ouch! Are they bringing in some fancy robot to do your work or one of the bosses relatives?

Yes I do - quite a while back though!

I quite like the sound of being a programmer on 'Bikini Beach' though...

nope, the firm is now run by the bosses children (all 5 of them), after 5 years of silly decisions I think they just ran out of money, must be all those new Mercedes and big houses they keep buying for their sprogs that mopped it all up.

Yep. Our main director sold us all out because of "money worries". Now he owns several more houses, plus (on top of his 5 decent cars) a seriously nice Merc that should have cost around £80k, but he paid £20k more to get ahead of the 2 year queue. Nice. Oh, plus he wondered if one of us wanted to rent his old house (at £8k a month...). Didn't bother to sell or rent for around 2 years. Ho hum, no big deal losing *around* £180k then.... grrrrrr.... must. control. fist. of. death....

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing
