So you just bought the program DBC. And like my, you want to create Halo 2 or Mercenaries right now. No offense, but I highly think you won't be even close to making those yet. If you have no programming knowledge, but are serious about programming your own games, follow these steps.
Step 1 : You could go to rpgarchive.com, and download rpg maker 2003. Use that program to make a game like Zelda, or Final Fantasy I or II. Very basic, easy fun and interesting to use.
Step 2 : After a few days of mastering that program, now start on Dark Basic, that way you know some algorithms, and have a very good idea on how programs function. Use that RPG program just to get your feet wet. Start using Dark Basic, by doing simple commands, and master the do loops, and the basic printing commands, that way you fully understand how to make simple 3d games or programs.
Step 3 : After you master the program Dark Basic, I highly recommend purchasing Dark Basic Pro. You will get a 10% discount. But before you go out and buy it, make sure that you know the insides and outs of Dark Basic. Be sure to know every little aspect of Dark Basic and it's commands. Since you can use Dark Basic commands with Dark Basic Pro, you will learn new commands. With Dark Basic Pro, you can have greater possiblities and ease to make games. Learn all the "Type" and "Global" commands as they are very helpful.
Info : These steps may help you become a great programmer as you're never too old or young to start. Some cool features of Dark Basic Pro is the ability to have multiple cameras and more flexibility of importing your custom music and game models. You will not be limited to Dark Basic's .3ds and .X formats.
Good luck all programmers, beginners and experts.
