that is right. it is almost time for me to finally buy my own computer for my own money i have earned by working!

so im posting here hoping to get a good answer to my question.

my current list is:
Pentium 4 3.0ghz
1024mb PC3200
DVD +-R/RW

the GPU is the most difficult one.
the computer above comes with a Radeon9600Pro but i can change it if i want.
i have made some searches and i figured the GeForce 6600GT would be my kind of card.

but is it really worth spending another 70$ on just the GPU?

the 9600pro uses Shader Model 2.0 that is ok, my father have this card on his laptop and it runs all of our games great.

but the 6600GT have SM3.0 and with it i can run New Generation Games.

the 6600GT beats 9600pro.

but i really dont want to spend that 70$ if i do so, i cant afford WinXP...

what would you do?
and it is my birthday soon so i might get some more money to spend then..

alternativley i could get an Athlon64 processor (3000+) and 512mb ddr..

please help

incase you got confused ill write a summary:
9600pro or 6600GT?

edit,
oh crap i never noticed that other post with the same topic related thingy!! im so sorry
