IS there any way at all to stop this? Alot of games anymore have music in their installers, and it pisses me off, because while i'm installing a game I like to listen to my music and surf the net. They never give you a direct option that says "please don't play some crappy pop music while installing", so i'm wondering if theres a way to overide or somethin

edit: the one I am refering to right now is Indigo Prophecy... installshield.

Don't think you can. But wouldn't that be a killer cool app? Something that lets you shut off sound from any apps, but not others? That would rule.

yea there is in fact a way to override this

press mute on your speakers or turn the speakers off. wow, that took a lot of haxing skills now, didnt it?

this would let you surf the net just dont use anything using sound.

PS if you want to listen to music of your choice while installing you can just turn on a CD player

I don't own a cd player.

A lot of music is bought off the internet/downloaded by naughty people these days and so a cd won't be available. Yes, I know these could be stuck on an mp3 player but you know no-one's going to bother doing that just so they can listen to some music while a game's installing, the same with buring them to a cd.

Although to be fair I hardly ever have my speakers on because they pick up something from the cordless phone and insist on giving off an incredibly annoying, buzzing sound.

So, as usual, my opinion is completely worthless and will lie here, festering away, until a lost badger buries it.

Thats their problem.

I know what you mean. When my eldest brother was here, he used to know when he was about to receive a message on his mobile because the speakers would start beeping.

No, you just hear voices in your head.

Uh, did you even read my response? Or was that a sad attempt at humour?

I get watcha mean dude, I sadly installed Lord of the Rings on my PC, it came free with a news paper, gotta take advantage, and Aghhh who cares!!!!

Usually the files played are .wav format, although I've never tried, open up your volume controls on the system, turn down the wave volume, if you're like me or soapyfish, your music files will be on yout system (all bought, I just convert them in i-tunes so I don't have to keep switching CD's )

if you do have them on your HD you're buggered!!!As the wave volume will turn it down

The name is back dudes!
