So, I bought a load of Pop-stations - fake PSP things for very cheap with the hope of listing them on ebay as curios and making a profit.

I wrote a very clear listing on ebay explaining that these items were NOT PSPs, did NOT play PSP Games, UMD Moveies or MP3s, were cheaper novelties for jealous younger brothers or sisters to play with or as a weird collectors item for chinese fake console enthusiasts. I made them sound cool (which they are, very nicely made little units, just a shame the games are rubbish) and only stated facts about them, ie measurements, what was included etc. Along with my disclaimer that once again these were NOT PSPs and did NOT take UMD.

Incase anyone was in any doubt as to what one is before bidding, a simple google search for "POP Station" reveals on the very first result, and many after it, a video file of someone openning and playing a POP Station, which shows just how NOT a PSP these are.

Yet in the five days I kept my listing up, I had over 3000 page hits, 50 questions and bids at over 190 pounds. No exageration, I promise you.

As it became abundantly clear from the ammount of questions and the nature of them that people did not understand my listings, I editted the listing and added to it clearly again specifying that this was not a psp and would not play ANY UMDs... NOT to bid on it if you wanted a PSP, etc. I had to retract nearly 30 false bids people made without reading the listing, which is against ebay policy and has got me put under investigation!

I eventually cancelled the listing, as I was panicked that whoever I sold this to believed it was a real PSP. In fact when I cancelled their bids there were still 40 odd people who had bid ammounts higher than 50 pounds. Many people would have taken the money and ran but I felt guilty. I was NOT trying to fool people, and cancelled the listing. INCASE THE PERSON WHO WAS the high bidder DID realise what they were bidding on, I emailled them and said they could have it for 15 quid all in... I still haven't had a reply

Not making any accusations or assumtions here, but I also listed the Nintendo DS equivalent of this machine, the NE Double Games console. I had no such stupid questions or retracted bids, and the person who eventually won was so nice I decided to give them a discount on their final price, and free postage

Conclusion: I am NOT going to list these again under bids, its just too damned risky. I will have to wait till I get enough feedback to list as "Buy It Now" only and relist them at a sensible price, maybe 15 pounds with free delivery. Considering how rare and collectable these will probably be in the future, thats probably about right I reckon, but no ammount of profit can pay for my extreme disgust in people prepared to bid 200 quid on something without even reading the listing. What a nation of idiots we appear to be asa whole!

I recently sold Painkiller (couldn't stand the game), and had one person e-mail me 'cos they couldn't work out how to get past the serial entry code (complained that the cd froze - hello! Press RETURN...).

And then I had a cheeky SOB saying that I must be old 'cos I dont accept Paypal.

I'd simply list again and put that they're PSP lookalikes. If people don't read that, so be it

What's going on with the ebay investigation? Have you yourself filed a complaint against all the users mucking you around?

The IQ of eBayer's is probably lower than the general average populace - which is saying something.

lol.

Ebay are investigating me because I keep cancelling people's listings (at their request)

I guess they have to check why I'm cancelling so many - for example people often put fake high bids on as other names to see what the person's highest bid was, then cancel the bid and bid just under the other person's highest bid, to make it end higher. A good idea, but ebay frown upon such things lol.

I was doing no such thing though, just trying to sell these kewl lil items, which I personally fell in love with the second they came to my door. They are SOOO cool and SOOO rubbish at the same time

"And then I had a cheeky SOB saying that I must be old 'cos I dont accept Paypal."
Lol I accept paypal because its convenient and most people don't view it as real cash, so are more likely to spend if they have some spare. But the ammount of times I've had people buy things that I've listed as "spares and repairs only" and then had them given an automatic refund through paypal when they complain it doesn't work, just beggars belief!

I dont accept Paypal as I dont want them taking my money. Plus your not supposed to add these charges to the eBay listing price...

And they aren't exactly quick either...

No - if you want to transfer money into your bank account it takes 10 working days - basicly a fortnight!

Awww, K2, you're too kind to people!

Be a little harsh and sell them the things for whatever they bid for.
Shoot 'em an email if you're still unsettled, but if they bid for it, then that's what they bought!

It's not your job to guide the ADD customers around. Post it up in big letters at the top, and go with the sales Kangaroo. Sheesh.

First Off:

Kangaroo2 BETA2:

Many people don't even bother reading what you put down, and just pay for what they think you are selling (noob heads!)

Second Off:

Sarcasm Stealth Squad:

If some git buys a game with the serial, and sort of I don't know asks for money back, what they are doing is copying the game and serial.
You need to create a Terms And Conditions That Stats The Fact That No Refunds Are Avaliable If You Buy Games That Have Unused Serials.

Thirdly, no your not old because you don't accept PayPal, I don't ever use paypal, I only buy/offer with cheque to decrease fraud.

Forthly, and I quote
Quote: "Never Buy From Newbs"

I brought the Beavis And Butthead Experiance from someone.

A week later, I emailed them asking if they managed to get the cheque into their bank A Ok.

I got an email, like a few days later, saying "Sorry but I only have put the cheque into my bank today"

So I can't believe, just to get a DVD takes so long.

And now I am wondering if this isn't a scam...

My point being is, be their for your customers.

i've had idiots when selling on ebay before. an example is "theme park" for amiga, clearly started that it was amiga, listed in amiga section. guy bidded and paid for item, when he got it i got a rude email telling me he wanted the pc version. then eventually he told me he used "search" to find the listing. so i told him not to leave neg feedback since it was his error and stated no refunds.

my brother has someone from singapore bid on his listing then got an email stating he was gonna pay by cheque and demanded certain things. put the email on ebay's forum and people instantly told me the person was just using fake cheques. blocked the bidder.

Kangaroo2 email me the listings and some piccys might wanna have a look at them

btw i sold 4 items on ebay last week (1 unpaid) totalling 35 quid for the 3 paid items. looks good but when you check paypal, you notice it's not that amount, it's roughly 2 quid short since they took final value fees.

here's an example of 1 item.

I had the same problem with a couple of Pop Tarts that I put on Ebay. People thought that they were PSP's.
