It's amazing what they can do today.

Its amazing how much work goes into producing a robot which can just ride a bike. And its weird to think that in maybe just two generations time people will take robots for granted ignoring all of the time and effort put into developing them.

As in a very big *maybe*. I mean that extremely impressive Honda robot (Asimo?) has been around (at a decent level of technology) for most of a decade (with probably at least a decade of development and rubbishy versions before that), but we haven't seen hardly anything in the home.

And don't get me started on those flying cars we have been promised since our grandparents were young

Would be cool though

they are still thinking about flying cars, NASA are currently running a development program to allow millions of "commuter aircraft" to be controled at the same time for that purpose, its a "proof of concept" thing, but they must be starting to think of it now the technology is getting there, you couldn`t trust millions of commuters to fly their aircars in safety in a busy city, but if they are controled via network?, still like to know what happens if your engine packs up though

why do they say Aliens are gonna be friendly?, surely the agressive ones wipe out the peaceloving ones, so all you have left out there are crazed flesh eating interstellar monsters.

Heh, so in 2050 we will have loads of people complaining about giant floating 4x4s. Yep, the anti-grav SUV. Tops.

Cheers

you can buy a flying car now. its like a beefed up hover thing and its actually almost affordable (if you consider say fancy sports range cars affordable). I forgot where i was reading about it, will post with link if i find it again.

but because theres no air traffic laws for such a thing, you arnt allowed to fly it around! You may own one. you may ride one as long as you keep it tether to the ground in a field (or simular area) and dont fly it above a certain height. Quite whacked out really

4x4s? Every flying vehicle will technically be and "off-road" vehicle.

Yeah, saw a few different types on programs like Ripleys over the years. Main problem with just about all of them is either it costs like an absolute fortune, it only goes like 5 foot off the ground (so what, roads are hardly hard to use your car on?), or is so hard to control that people are going to be falling out of the sky like rain. Or all 3.

True true. I'm just seeing exact replicas of 4x4s, just in the air. Some people just have to have 3 foot of space in every direction around them. And one small child.

The AI style robot cars aren't a great idea unless they could be heavily armored. If I was some wild terrorist and some robot vehicle was driving through my city I'd end up blowing the thing to bits. That'll be more tax paying moneys that have gone down the drain.

Somebody made a post. What do you think will happen in 2005, and I remember writing that they would teach a robot to ride a bike.

Yay! I was right!

Edit: Oh I predicted it in 2003 according to this. Doesn't time fly!!!

It's really scary re reading over the posts on that old thread and realizing that more than 1 has actually come true...
