Is it just me, or were Apple supposed to be making a big annoucement today (12/10/05)? Possibly a video iPod (IMHO I think that's unlikely).

Google display up to date news links, and there's nothing for "Apple announce"

is that 12/10/05 UK or US, because that could mean either
12 October 2005
or
10 December 2005

it is unlikely
looks like it's going to be an 80g iPod...
WHY does ANYONE need an 80g iPod?
not even a radio station would need that much space for music
I have ~600 songs, and they don't take up even close to 2gigs!

Apple were to announce something 12th October. Since it's only just mornign in the US now, it'll probably be announced sometime overnight UK time.

Another Ipod? Bah, they are all the same. Cool features but very fragile. I don't trust Apple products anymore.

@Jerico2day
I didn't. It was in my backpack when something made a really little dent on the back casing and the thing got screwed up. Apple wouldn't replace it even though it was during the warranty.

What's the point of a video ipod? Argh. They've been selling video devices for years, but now that *gasp* Apple! *gasp* has done it, it's trendy and it's a must-have. I call foul.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't have any video files that I'll watch again and again, enough to warrant buying a device to play it when I'm not already on my computer or in front of my TV.

It'll probably cost around the same as a PSP, so you might as well get it to play games *and* watch videos. It's too gimmicky.

Yeah I would rather get a PSP or some other portable media center to carry videos I want to watch. Its also ridiculous the amount of space Apple put in the Ipods. Who has 40 gigs of music? For video I might understand. But I wouldn't want to get an Ipod video. Most of the thing is controls and a small screen. I love my Palm Tungsten. I think my money would be better spent on a Palm TX or some similar device.

Y'know, the portable video players have been around for awhile now, and while i love my psp, having a 60gb hard drive, or even a 10gig hard drive on it would've made it alot more worth the money.

Yeah, personally I'd keep with my PSP too for movies.
Larger screen, and doesn't die when you drop it.
(which I've done a few times now heh... so bloody accident prone!)
