Probably because the webpage looked really good at first but ultimately it was the same as many newbie team requests. No screenshots, no downloads, no details, and nobody else on the team but the guy that started this thread (even though the webpage said "we need members").

It is kindof a team request. You are looking for everyone to do something, but what will you do? If you want to make a community project, maybe you should have posted this in game theory where this is not at all started, you could get suggestions, then see if the community wanted to help out.

sure it looks good...
but my little sister made a website with that template...and the forum is just phpBB...

not that a website is everything but i'm not terribly impressed...

1 post and 1 thread in the forum...

i don't really feel like devoting my time and efforts into this project

I wasn't trying to cause any offence, I was just try to get some users on my forums so I had some sort of community.

It seems that this is not the right place to do so, as all I get in reply is tedious negative/disapproving remarks, and reasons why I shouldn't do it.

The idea was that everyone who wanted to join in, joined in and pitched in a bit, i posted a link here to see if i could get some people from this community, obviously this is the wrong community to ask for help, or to try and start a project without having done any work on the computer at first. (Not all of us have scanners)

Sorry for any offence caused, is it wrong in this world for someone to try and start something?

edit: Your critism is not that constructive, and you seem to have a disliking for those who try to begin something from scratch. Yes the site is a freewebs one, I rarely have time to sit down and create a proper one, I'm sure if i did i would have maybe not rushed the site.

Thank You to those who did act positively towards me.

The project began today, that is why there is only one account on the forums.

You jointed the Darkbasic forums a long time ago. You should know by now how many times we see newbie team requests that are basically "I don't know how to do anything... come join my team so you can do all the work for me." and the best part is usually "You get your name on the credits."... big deal!... if this sucker makes money I want my cut of the profits!!

The team request policy was designed (i'm assuming) to prevent newbies from doing just what you did. Look at the link that David T provided... you broke rule #1 which is:

Quote: "Rule 1 - Show some signs of progress
We do not accept Team Requests for projects that are yet to start. You MUST have something to show for the project so far. This can be in the form of: screen shots, source code, game downloads / test programs, illustrations, design documents and design concepts. "

Nobody wants to discourage you in making your game... but asking for team members without even having a design for your game you open yourself up to ridicule.

This post was not asking for a team of dedicated workers, but some hobbiest or LOTR fans who wanted to make a freeware game, the idea of the project was to introduce people to game development and to teach people skills they did not already have. The post on these forums, was to gather a few people together who would like to work on a LOTR game.
I did not ask for team members without having a design, I have designed this game and written descriptions on gameplay ,etc.
Quote: "Health
For hobbits, men, dwarves and elves mushrooms replenish your health.
For enemies 'Orc Medicine' bearing the eye of sauron or the white hand of saruman, replenishes your health.
For Wizards a potion bearing the elven symbol for G provides health."

I have been using the forums for a long time and I am aware of the rules.

Kind Regards

'Tis a team request!

You're supposed to actually have a game started before you post a team request, though...
