How would you do that? So If I set the display mode to something different, I can always go back to default.

The default is 640,480,16.
You don't need to get it, you just need to set it to that.

Um.. According to the forum index page, there's already two posts so I'm guessing someone who is nüby-slap'd has just posted...

The default display mode is always 640x480 16-bit, no matter what. Which is a pain, as on the ATI 3D Rage Pro cards (which I used to have) it supports DBC's method of 3D rendering on everything apart from that resolution...

Maybe, it can be useful to define the most suitable display mode manually by performing the display modes checklist...

Make an option in your options-menu:

Resolution:
- High (1024x768x16) -
- Mid (800x600x16) -
- Low (640x480x16) -

It saves you trouble

perhaps 'high' should use 32-bit colour?
