Well the demo video speaks for its self.
RPG Maker XP it yells every few secs then at the end with the R2D2 with legs of C3PO. And Anakan telling me to download it. That made up for lost time lol.

I think that video had the adverse effect.

Awesome. Another crap turn based battle system RPG. Oh well, I suppose it makes their RPG Maker rediculously simple to code.

Wow, I'm in a really sarcastic mood this morning. Appologese.

I second you, Arkheii.
For those noobs who only have a story in their brain and don't know anything about programming, it's the best variant.
Of course if you want an original gameplay, it's not worth it. But then you have to learn programming.

But think about your average 10 year old, he can't write RPG games in DBPro, we're agreed on that right?

What about this package, if it lets young master Average make a neat RPG themselves, then that's just coder fuel for later on - it's all good, and nobody need even think about it, because these game creation packages are not for you, they're for less experienced people and kids. TBH it looks like a nice little system they have, and the way they've handled it will make it easy to add their own characters and change existing ones - I would have loved a package like that as a kid, back when I spent a lot of time making games with SEUCK, this kicks it's ass - YAY for progress, kids these days have all the cool stuff, all we had was SEUCK (and home made go-karts).

I remember someone modified this to allow your character to shoot fireballs while walking, instead of using that boring turn-based system...

Another good thing about Game-making packages like this is prototyping.
You can take your idea (story, items, etc.), package it all into a game in RPGM, then re-code it in DB with a basic idea of how it should work. It may seem redundant, but that visual aid really does help.

Modelling apps are like spaghetti: the only way to find the good stuff is to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. ~Me

I'm not an RPG fan in any way, but what's wrong with turn-based games? Advance Wars is one of my favourite games, and it's turn-based.

Anyways, I can see a ton of value with point-and-click game creation programs for kids that are just getting into programming. I remember I shelled out $80 for Game Maker (old DOS version un-related to current windows version I think) when I was in elementary school, and it pretty much catapulted my interest in programming. Now I do it for a living.

I would get my kid this (if I had a kid).

If you've used it though, really you know that's not technically true.

You *have* to script in order to get even the most basic gameplay working.

I don't really care for RPG games, but I think Enterbrain did an excellent job on this product (still waiting for the download to finish to start the real test).

So you're saying the advertisement is wrong?

Ahh, I agree it's not aimed at people like myself, so I shouldn't really express and opinion. It's just that program seems to embody pretty much everything I hate about RPGs. I love RPGs, but hate turn based combat, 2d animation, stylised graphics - I hate cheese factor, as I'm a realism junky. Ignore my comments. This proggy and it's results are 100% not for my kind of audience.

I didn't notice the advertising. Bought both RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker 2000 for my brother, who is crazy for RPGs

Although I bought the Japanese rather than downloading the Broken English ones. It was my way of forcing him to learn Japanese.
(worked a treat too)

So I know from experience with the products themselves that while you can make a small map, then add an enemy without any issues.

In order for you to do anything else you *must* script it.
The funniest thing is, that unless you add a script that after a battle the enemy does something else, you jump back to the main screen the instantly your back in the battle screen facing a full health version of the enemy you just beat.

It's all marketing really. If we were going to be honest here, then to make any game in FPS Creator you *must* use scripts. Difference between RPG Maker (atleast the Japanese version) and FPSC is your provided with a number of template scripts for more common tasks. So you don't have make any until you need something more unique/complex.

This said, thier scripter is one HELLOVA lot easier.
