Hopefully this wasn't already posted, I didn't see it in the list. Check out this ebay auction that was a scam where the guy was selling only the BOX.

Didn't someone do the same thing with a PS1 box years ago?

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

That's a sellers quote, not a buyer's. Or am I getting confused here?

This is the buyer's quote.... (I have no web space to grab the screen to.)

Woah - this is interesting. deliberate misconceptions seem to happen more and more frequently on eBay, and I'm sure I would be pretty peeved if that happened to me. "Mint condition box? Woah - that'd be nice to add to my collection of completely useless videogame/console boxes and cooking utensils!"

You'd think that the bidders would catch on - the opening bid was 99 cents!

Peeved wouldn't be the word for what I'd feel if this happened to me. If I received this package with only a box I'd probably send an email to the guy asking where the product is, and once I found out that it was only a box auction I'd go to his address. With a brick inside the box and toss it through a window, maybe followed by more bricks or eggs if no one is home.

Dunno, it just shows that people don't read what they're bidding for. It clearly states just the box, no psp.

How on earth is this a scam? It specificly says on there that it's JUST THE BOX. Holy crap.

I listed a Pop Station fake psp with a VERY clear listing saying it wasn't a psp and would not play psp games. The bids went up to like 200 quid and I got charged loads by ebay even though the guy refused to pay... I wasn't trying to rip people off I cancelled like 8 bids for people who mis-understood. Troublew was my listing said in plain english in the title and description what the item was and jackasses STILL bid on it wanting a PSP - ebay is full of idiots

Gotta agree with the last 50%-ish of posts.

There is no scam, the buyers were told what they were bidding on.
How the hell anyone can spend $202.50 without thinking to read the information available is beyond me.

EDIT: And before someone says who would buy an empty box, lots of people would.

In years to come a PSP in a box is going to be worth a lot more than one without a box. In their rush to play the thing alot of pople probably tore off the innocent little cardboard tabs, so their box would no longer be mint. This guy's just providing the perfect solution.
