Even though I'm becoming better every second, I'm still a n00b at FPSC. Is there a script so where, if you enter a "secret area" it will have text on the screen like "You've Found A Secret Area"? I'm pretty sure how to make it play a sound already.

Hope I'm right on this one. Put a trigger area just inside the secret area that displays a hud (TGA file) for sometime. That TGA file can have whatever you want written.

IT DOES DISPLAY TEXT...

"HudText="

HudMake=(something)
you need to make it as something, and I CAN'T read the source properly to know WHAT. I can tell you WHAT you can make, just not what to make things as.

Enough with the ZONES. Use DISTANCES! And HudText is having a problem.

And stop acting big. People want simple, your way is not simple as it is complicated on making transparent text.

:state=0:hudreset,hudx=50,hudy=90,hudimage=gamecore\text\myownhud.tga,hudname=myownhud,hudmake=display,state=1
:state=1,plrdistwithin=50:hudshow=myownhud,hudfadeout=myownhud

less then 3 states! do I get a prize?

the hudhide is redundant unless this is a menu. hudimagefine only increases memory usage. But this is all besides the topic, and has all been posted on.

But READ my post. "making transpernt text" (I DID type background)

You ARE acting big by posting like you are above everyone. This means that you don't just correct the script, you go and tell how this is wrong, how he is wrong. Everything is wrong. Explaining how the SCRIPT is wrong is good enough. Explaining how PEOPLE are wrong is acting big.

I can't explain myself... sorry on that. But... I can't explain it. Big... It is just hard to explain. Right now, I can say I am getting bigger, but I can't pinpoint exactally where.

First, you are still ignoring the primary fact "it is HARD to make transparent text background" and it is, It may seem easy, but unless you have a starters template somewhere. It is very hard.

Second. It will NOT flash. Read "dooruse.fpi"

Fadeout lasts mabey 2 seconds. But hudshow is executed 30 times a second (optimually), even then, it is scripted by LEE (and the human eye can not see faster then 30 frames per second ).

But transparancy is possible... It is just hard to do.

The door script is an example of where that command line is used.

Now I am shrinking.
