I'm working on a new game entitled "Kewt N' Kuber" created in DBclassic. The story-line is a little abstract right now, but you play as either Kewt or Kuber in weird levels while doing puzzles and challening stuff. Kewt is a big "nerd" as seen in the pics. Kuber - well, well....I haven't created him yet.

The pics below show what the game looks like so far:

So, this is what the game looks like with nearly a week of programming and should be complete soon. Keep posted for more

If they're supposed to be very small then it looks fine. But if they're around normal size then the camera should be a good deal closer to them, and the roof of the hall should be curved or fade away into darkness when you want to finalize your graphics.

Just give some more info on the game. You may want to make the camera closer to the player, or scale the player bigger. Yet again, I do not know if this is RTS or RPG.

The game is a mix between an adventure and a platformer. I've added some more objects, like a shark, crabs, boxes to jump on, and other objects.

The arena is modeled after an Aztec Ruins style hallway, hence the large bricks. The Aztec's used huge bricks, and, the level is Kewt's (one of the main character's) dream so there is lots of large-scale, small scale, and weird stuff.

He's also a really big nerd so everything that he collects and some of the other stuff has to do with computers, pocket protectors, and computer peripherals.

I'll have a screenshots soon and hopefully a demo to show the controls and how the first level looks. I just have to work some more on the collisions, jumping physics, and in-game displays.

Thanks for the comments so far (I guess I could scale the textures down, but, I think it looks fine. Besides, this isn't how the game will always be desplayed, it will be outside, in houses, basically not every place is in the dungeon.

As for the pool, the shark needs to fit, and, Aztec's had huge pools that were sacred to them.

In the first level, you have to find the computer (easy to find), find all 10 calculators in 1 minute, then kill the shark, make your way up the platforms to find the other computer, and collect the computer accessories.

After that it will go to another level some place else with Kuber as the playable character. Although, I still have to make him

....O......K........???

Comments still welcome

Same here.

@master programmer, I like the idea and definitely plenty of progress, but I'll wait for more screens and possible a demo before I decide anything on this. Make the camera a bit closer just so we don't feel like ants when playing, but still see the size of the place.

^^Yep

Here are some more screenshots:

This is the top of the arena (Kewt [character] is jumping from platform to platfrom).

This is the shark

This is the "Dreamcatcher Penguin." Long story, but is well explained in the game. [The level is a dream after all!]

So what do you think? Worth developing?

He's saying "So...?"

I use lots of animators and stuff like that. But, a "Master" programmer never reveals his secrets

Quote: "That Kewt dude is awesome, his face screams personality."
Heehee, he's also got glasses

Quote: "that player model looks somewhat familiar... "

Yeah, I wanted to use the POB model because it just looked cool.
And as for Kuber, it turns out he is Kewt's robot - although, the robot is the "Hover Bot" from the models, but, that is likely to change just as soon as I can get it modeled...hopefully.

I've got all of the cinematics in the first level complete, now I have to add the last part of the level where you slay the shark. Just in case you didn't know, that penguin is wearing a crown, in a bathtup, while holding a plunger.

Quote: "Looks quite good, this is starting to develop it's own style and seems quite insane"

Yes, that is a good thing. With the dream catcher penguin and the rhino upside-down in a bird bath while covered in chocolate (also in the level).

I'm also considering cel-shading, but haven't attempted it yet. Once I get more done on the game, I'll post more shots - and hopefully level 1's demo!

Well, I used to use Milkshape's animators, but my trial expired, now I am using some weird free stuff that I don't even know the name to, but where's this animator you guys are talking about located at? I also use "rotate limb" commands to get what I want also, although not as effective.

Here is a screenshot of a conversation between Kewt and Kuber:

At least that is what Kuber looks like so far (robot).

Quote: "Wow, I love this game (so far from the way it looks) also!"

I think it's my best game yet! It is pretty fun, I like testing it because the calculator thing is pretty addictive as well as the funny comments from Froggy, the viking mouse (who lives in Kewt's house)

Once you play it you should understand

Good news! I should be able to release the demo in early November! [Hopefully!]

Sure, Vgames master, you played SBTII, and now you can be the first to play K n' K! But.......I need a few more days to get screen displays and some stuff like that in. Then, I'll give you the link, then I'll put it on my site like 7 days later or something

But yeah, you can
Quote: "beta"

I've never been able to figure out what that means! Does it just mean an early version like a demo or something? I've heard it a lot just haven't come to fully realize what it means.

UPDATE:
Voicing is finished for the first level
1 out of 3 cinematics for the first level are complete
Health and Life is completed
TO DO:
Sound Effects and Audio
Start the K n' K Web Site
Loading Screen
Kuber's Cinematic Glitch (he doesn't fall when he should)
THE WHOLE GAME!!!

More Screenshots coming soon!

beta I think is early versions that aren't the full version, either that or a type of radiation used in smoke detecters (or is that alpha? Or is my old chemistry teacher a moron)

If I remember well, Beta is the full version without the real game difficulty that is set. Alpha is the very incomplete game.

It's look good. continue the work.

It might be in 16 bits, but, the screenshots kind of get distorted and lose some color from the real game. I'm just wondering if everyone can see the computer in that last screenshot that has the 3 on it. It might just be the screenshot, I hope so

Yeah, that's Kuber's Dream - and there is lots of 1's and 0's and he sees 2's running around and has to capture them!

lol

All right, by Friday I shall hopefully have a demo!

(Also: What do you think of the mouse in the viking helmet? He's the guy who tells you what to do - kind of like Lambert in Splinter Cell [for those of you who have played it])

That's where I got the idea! I remember that episode now. Was it the same one with the binary code written on the wall and he said it was jibberish but with a mirror it meant something! [that was the Cristine episode, it was probably a different one ].

Good news! I successfully tested my possible demo for K n' K at a friend's house...and.....like I said, it was SUCCESSFUL! You can still expect it around Friday, just a soon as I get my site setup, or the MadManHosting guy fixes his server so I can upload to it!

Other than that, the only addition today was the the coins. You can now collect coins and stuff like that. I also addes some music that changes to fit the mood.

Although.......THE DEMO IS FINISHED! And is ready to be played! Grab the free download at: http://www.kewtnkuber.tk or quickly download the .zip from http://kewtnkuber.tripod.com/demo1.zip

And have fun! Although......It is only Level 1, and not everything is finished yet!

So, yeah, have fun and continue to post comments! Thanks.

As for the 3K cutoff, I have deleted the .zip momentarily as I have fixed the camera. I will notify you when the .zip is ready for downloading again. So, now, the camera will follow the character and TURN with him
