Too bad MS made OO (and others) look old by abandoning menus in Office 12

Not used the new office, barely seen much of it yet.
I think Open Office has always looked dated compared to MS Office though.

It uses wxWidgets, a free cross-platform library (and a pretty darn good one). Writing a port would be pretty trivial, if not unnecessary .

If that's true then porting would be a case of having the windows libraries and setting up the main entry point to be Window compliant. That'd be what, an afternoon's work for someone who has never used C++ before.

Yes, that would be true. I've compiled many a wxWidget application on Linux from windows without having to change the source.
