Okay, everyone realizes that in the forums today, it is hard just to get a bunch of people together to start a game from scratch. You have to be able to program something out and put all junk in the game before getting others to do media or extra programming, and it is hard to get off for some of the members. I am fine with showing work already, but some are not.

I have been working for a week now on a WIP site that will change this: DarkBasic Clans. The site is supposed to be an interactive site to: make teams for projects, make teams for competitions, show your "resume" to other users, and expose you to developing games in a team environment. The site is going to be programmed in PHP and forming teams would be forum based. You would show your work in the recruiting forums to start or join a team for a project or compo. Compos would be for showing off team skill, and they would take place every 3 to 4 months. For projects, this could be for anything such as a personal game, commercial title, or just something for fun.

Here are the people I am looking for:

1. Administrator: Gamedev
2. Forum Guardian (Mod): ?
3. Forum Guardian (Mod): ?
4. Judge: ?
5: Judge: ?
6: Judge: ?
7: Forum Assistant: ?

I will also be looking for other members willing to start teams so we can start competitions. What do you think? I will have the site up so we can start soon.

Okay everyone! The site is up, and I am looking for members. Also, the forums are at www.dbclans.ipbfree.com. Tell me what you think so the site can get somewhere.

Anyone? Comeon, the site is just WIP, and I am really looking for some good members to join and start teams. I was thinking for the first compo to be an action game/shooter.

Gamedev, are you looking for a slap? You posted this exact same thread last night, word for word, and it was locked. I see you've added a site this time, but there's next to no content.

And then you waited just 1 hour for a reply and are getting impatient? Chill, dude. If people want to visit your site, they will.

Sorry. No, I am not looking for a slap. Also, the mod closed the topic and said when I have the site up to repost. I am sorry, but I did not realize that it was only one hour, I am just excited. Also, as I stated the site does not have much content right now, but the forums are up and running. I am looking to try to get the site running right now. Sorry for any trouble.

I think what the nice mod meant is get a site up with the actual features you promised in it. The god's truth is, we don't care about your forums.

Do first, post later Gamedev. That rule is going to be your new best friend.

To be honest, people don't go to other peoples forums for team request, teamrequest.com is practically empty, my forum is practically empty, no team requests there AND, I did advertise that it had them, nope nada, people would rather annoy people here with them, so much more fun, plus people who read these, wpn't want a team request, but thats life

The name is back dudes!

Alright. Megatoncat, I accept, post later, do first, or something along those lines. This is just meant to do compos and form teams for general purposes. I think that it is a good idea and it could catch on when the site is fully completed. What do you think of the forum skins?

That's precisely what I meant.

What will make people want to visit your site? Well, you have a marker page, and a forum (that takes all of 5 minutes to set up ... I had to create a new hotmail a/c for the email ), and ... well, nothing else. Why should I go to your site?

Now, does anyone want to join my forums? A free cup of tea and a jam sandwich to the first 10 members (this new forum is sponsered by Philip) - http://www.tehcoders.ipbfree.org/

It is just the forums that are up now and that I would like people to join. I wanted the site to be aimed at people who want to form teams, show off their skills in compos, and make projects with the ease of a community that will contribute.

Will someone join at www.dbclans.ipbfree.com? That is the place I would like people to join at. I really want to get this off the ground to make something happen.

you can't expect a large community on your forums, I got a forum, not too many members, but doesn't have much use either, because people can come here for stuff they could post, I was gonna make my 3D modellers challenge on my forum, nope better off here, the same will apply for other compos, because it is better advertised, same for team requests. Only thing I use my forums now for is story information on my projects and jotting down ideas and storing tutorials I've made

Dude look behind you!!!

Again, what IanM and countless others said: What are our motivations for joining your forum? What positive aspects will your forum offer that you cannot do on this forum?

Saying "Please oh please somebody join my forum" isnt good enough because people are already settled here and don't wanna move.

Okay. The forums have a class system on it. The class system shows in the profile of what you do: program, model, sfx engineering, etc. The class system will determine what you do in a "clan". On the forums, you will (if you are in a clan) have a private forum to work with your members and upload media for your games. There will be weekly, monthly, and long term compos in which people can compete to show off team skills, get recognized for future projects, and maybe get a site up with a working all around team. That is what the site will do, and I think that the system will work out to people's advantages.

sooo...what does it offer that other people's forums doesn't? tis nice to have a forum, but don't let self esteem get ahead of you, people only go to other forums if it has something that the other forums don't offer, yes you have class system, but from what I see, thats the only differance, this forum has compos, and not just the odd one like the puzzle challenge, go to the 3D chat section, there a 3D modelling compo, DBP chats, one there and one in Cartography shop chat.

My point is, if you're gonna advertise, have something to say, 'my forum is worth visiting' or just leave the advertisement in a form of a signature or 'web' link on your personal bar

Your signature has been erased by a mod because it's larger than 600x120...

When I am done with the site, it is going to have interactive PHP functions. You will be able to manage hosting for your games, share info with others safely over the forums and the site, set up teams for games, and much more. There is not a place right now that is just for DBP and DBC for teams only. This place will be for teams to get together. Please, I want to start the site. No other db site has this, and it is unique just having a site for team requests since most requests are rejected here.
