First of all, if a mod thinks this doesn't abide by the AUP then you may remove this, but I have read it through and I think it's OK

I'm a university student in London, and am looking for a way to make a bit of money so I do not get too deep into debt by the end of the year.
What I have decided is to offer a website designing service, as this will give me freedom to work where and when I want, and it is something I believe I am good at. I learnt how to make websites when I was 13 and since have made numerous versions of my personal website, and also a few websites for other people. I know that the many great games created in Dark Basic are often let down by a shabby website, and so basically if anyone is looking for a nice new website, I would be more than happy to make one for a small fee.
If anyone is vaguely interested, please email me with your requirements and I can give you a quote:

robin@robinsgames.com

Examples of my previous websites can be found on my current website under website design,
http://www.robinsgames.com
(Geocities Hosting is temporary )

Any questions, please ask,
Thanks,
Robin Biddlecombe

A good tip : Don't try on this community, most here do games for free and don't earn much with it. Create Websites for people of your area. You can't even imagine how much you can get

yes, I was thinking about that..
But if anyone is intersted, just send me an email, even if it's just to ask for a quote. I imagine somewhere between £35 and £55 is a fair price for a complete website, though obviously if your website only needs a few pages then this would be lower.

I think I might me interested but how do you make your websites (Microsoft Frontpage, Dreamweaver, by hand...)?

Money isn't everything.... You need something to spend it on.

Thanks for replying.

I use notepad to create all my websites - I find it gives you more control over the whole thing and you can make the html much more clearer (Frontpage/Dreamweaver tend to fill your html with a load of junk). I use photoshop to create the graphics too

oh, I use dreamweaver but only can make rather simple pages. I was thinking maybe you could help me but since you use notepad it won't really work.

Notepad is capable of making any page that can be made in dreamweaver.
I also use notepad for php and html pages because of the power and simplicity it gives me.

Notepad is the worst tool to use to make webpages. At least go for a plain text editor that allows auto-indenting, line numbers, syntax highlighting, etc. (like UltraEdit). Notepad is just.... horrendous for anything other than note-taking, really.

If I'm coding PHP and I have 4 layers of indents, it's a pain to hit TAB 4 times after each line.

It's generally hard to make attractive website with atleast SOME level of complexity using only notepab.

I don't understand why people are being stubborn and saying Dreamweaver isn't as good as notepad when Dreamweaver basiclly IS a blank html editor plus so much more. (Yes. Just open up the HTML editor and you get all the nice stuff Jeku mentioned)

Megaton, you should make a fireworks and dreamweaver tutorial on how you make your 1337 sites. They are pure coolness. I should add a megaton fanboy to my sig. Anyway, Dreamweaver is diffenetly a good choice, I originally was so stubborn and only used notepad, but dreamweaver OWNS! I also use zend for php5 at work. Very good from tables and PHP.

Hmmm, I never said it's not nice, but I check the price of dreamweaver and think ... "mmmh, notepad"
let's be honest. I know many people who get dreamweaver illegaly just because of its price. That's why I like to promote notepad or any other non-wysiwyg-editor which is free. In some kind of way, it's fighting against piracy.

And there are tons of free text editors that offer everything you need. Myself, I use Quanta Plus. It's cool in that I can edit the files over FTP as easy as if they were local. Everytime I hit CTRL-S to save the file, it transfers it over to the site. Very convenient.

Megatron Cat, the point is that many people won't even bother to pay if some guy will copy it illegaly for free. That's why I prefer suggesting any free editor or notepad.

Just thought I'd post to say I now have some better hosting space for my website, so if you didn't manage to have a look at it before, you should be able to now:

dreamweaver has a whole bunch of recent extensions half of you prolly dont even know of.
it makes dev times against notepad about 5000% more faster and accurate.

viewing the code and the wsiwyg these days is a lot more acccurate as well as allowing to see all the different languages in the one component is a blessing.

Im assisting in developing a large japanese motorbike companies website rehaul for 3 countries in Macromedia v8

notepad is officially for noobs when it comes to webdev.

if your referring to the actual site then that was a fireworks/dreamweaver MX project and the 3d toaster was in amapi 6.

looking at my source code reveals functions with MM in them denoting it was crafted using dreamweaver for the lesser more important functions i would code by hand in the edit code box in dreamweaver.

the actual jobs in the site depend on where im working.

Absolutely not
It depends on "why" you use Notepad. The less a programm is showing, the more my brain has to work, the more my intelligence keeps a high level.

I use ConTEXT not because I want to appear cool as its all handmade but the fact I prefer it like that. I find it easyier to do it like that than WYSIWYG. That is personal preference...

Also it takes alot of memory on my 128mb RAM laptop

It would be safe to say that nobody here makes $60+ hr. You say you make $200-600/hr, but is that 40 hrs. a week? I mean, I could make $300 for 5 hours of work on a website, but that won't be a regular 9-5 thing. Does that count?

And anyone who has used a tool like Dreamweaver knows that Notepad is useless :-P
