hi guys, I have been annoyed as hell these last to days so I thought I would see if anyone here can save me. I have just got a nice big HDTV and hooked my laptop up to it.

The TV looks great and everything is fine, however, I have been wanting to play games on my nice TV and I can't figure out how. On the display settings I can make the TV part of my desktop which works fine, however I can't get games to display on it.

All games either open full screen to my laptop (eg Red Alert 2), if I get them in a window crash when I have the split desktop turned on (eg Anarchy online), or have mouse problems when running on my TV (eg Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory).

Has anyone encountered this problem before, or know how to make a game run on a second display or run ina window if it doesn't already (I have tried alt+enter on some fullscreen games and it doesn't work)?

The TV registers as a second monitor and is connected via a monitor cable. My laptop is 3.2ghz HT P4, 1Gb RAM, 256mb Radreon X600 running windows XP home with SP2.

Thankyou for any assistance which you can give.

go to the display panel and see if there is a dropdown box to use it as either a primary or secondary display device, if so set it as the primary display, and click on the power button on the monitor to fully shift the display to the tv

it's more complex than you think Greed you have to goto where you set the screen res advanced then display then you should have for boxs 3 pc monitor 1 tv plug the cable into your tv then switch on the tv option so it turns green then press apply

That's how it is on my 9250 pro anyway

p.s i can play games when it's set up like i said above but not films

It's an HDTV, so It's plugged in the same way as a MONTITOR is, it's not the same as a normal tv.

But I believe greed was right in the first place, Set the TV as the PRIMARY display and the laptop screen as the SECONDARY display.
I remember having problems getting that to work with my sister's laptop, the laptop just refused to be the secondary display

google for it I'm sure you'll figure it out that way

I'll give you some toast

yeah, that's probably why he told you how it worked, and that's why you went to school, so you can learn to read.

Not quite. HDTV monitors are connected not with a standard vga port, but the awesome hdtv port

At least, I don't think hdtv's plug into the standard vga port.

(it's the port on the left in this image)

that card is probably quite cheap.

That socket isn't limited or specific to HDTV you know.. its called a DVI socket. I'm using one right now for my TFT (Only because my card has 2 DVI's on it and its not worth using the adaptor... )
