Ok once I get these opinions I will stop putting it off and commence the creation of my game.

What view is best for an action game with blazing gun fights fp/tp.[edit]?[/edit]

I have some code for both views but with first person the collisions are hard and with third person the camera is hard.

All opinions will be taken on board.

3RD person.

Next time, please put a question mark at the end of any questions you ask?

depends what ur focuse is, if its realism(like a black hawk down gun fight), 1st person is the way to go, if its on the action aspect of the game, then 3rd person is yur choice(for like a conker type of firefight)

I'm here to do homework, and kick ass.....

and i just finished my homework.....

The fire fights will be like when your in a room and ten gaurds come at once sort of thing but I want it to be pretty realistic aswell.

wouldnt multiple perspectives give your game a little more flexibility.
if you fed your engine variable modes then it would be a breeze to change camera modes.

psuedo code abstract to convey the idea

eg:
Players Distance to Camera
Cameras Height to Player

mode 1
PDC = 100 : CHP = 100
mode 2
PDC = 500 : CHP = 500

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

We have this awesome little part of the forum called 'GAME DESIGN THEORY' you know. It's almost like it was designed for a post like this.

Anyhoo...

Third person and First person are not so different, you could easily mix and match the camera views to suit the action. Really the collision worries are irrelevant, because the new collision system should be good for pretty much any type of game.
