hey,

i have finally bought a domain name and a host.
my new website is now located at http://lukasw.com.

im in need of help designing it.
everyone, or at least most of you guys, know that colors and art is one of the things i know absolutely nothing about.. almost.

so please tell me what colors you think would fit me webpage also if there is anything you feel is missing, then post a note here. thanks.

the webpage is under construction. however you can take a sneek peek here: http://lukasw.com/test.

my old website is located here http://lukashangout.tk

if you think i should keep my old design or if you think i should write a whole new design, please tell me so and give me some tips on what you think would be good. not just "i think you should re-design you webpage".

thanks

ps. if you need help with your website, i might be able to help

We can't "tell you" what colours to make your site with. It all depends on your taste and style.

Your current site looks good though.

It's alright...

I assume you coded it yourself in php. Nice system.

The scheme needs some work. The boxes around the nav links when you hover over it doesn't seem right. Not appealing personally.

You wanna know how to use colors, this is the perfect place

To use the color wheel, simply pick a color, and then your complimentary color will be the opposite color on that wheel.

For example, if you want a page with a big red background, your title heading backgrounds could be green and it would look alright.

Lukas I can help you graphics wise and layout wise via .Css.

For an example of my work check out
http://we-heart-emo.tk

(Still fixing a positioning problem when site is not in a maximized window.

Oh and my main site based off of a CSS-Zen Garden Layout:
http://koetsuaboshi.net

Well the content of your emo site lacks my personal attraction, but the design is nice.

The second site there is nice, but the nav links need some sort of background, perhaps that 'bubble' image that surrounds your name.

[edit]

Heh, I called it pretty good.. This LCD monitor at work is useless for looking at designs x_x

Animeblood, I just got into CSS today. Was wondering if you could go on MSN and help me out alittle.

Thanks, and back to your regular scheduled broadcasting.

hey,

Quote: " We can't "tell you" what colours to make your site with. It all depends on your taste and style."

hmm.. yeah, you are right. sorry

well i was thinking maybe something gray'ish, like it is now.

Quote: "Your current site looks good though."

thanks

Quote: " keep the standard /test one"

ok, so if i keep this layout (ofcourse, the "logo" need to change) with gray tunes. that would pretty much be like it is now.. but i kind of like the way it looks.. yeah.

Quote: "I assume you coded it yourself in php. Nice system."

thanks yep, all coded by me (exept that guestbook script)

Quote: "The boxes around the nav links when you hover over it doesn't seem right."

yeah.. i like it though. i tried to make it look like a custom button instead of a link. it looks much cooler.

thanks for the links. if im to go with Gray Scaled Sceme, i could just put that color wheel in photoshop and make it gray, it would be the same, wouldn't it?

Quote: " Lukas I can help you graphics wise and layout wise via .Css."

graphics wise.. yeh, that would be nice. i love your graphic style
if you dont mind, would you try to make me a logo? text: LukasW.com
it should go with "modern theme" and should look good with a grayscaled theme thanks.

i will improve the .css, since it is not finished yet

also i like the koetsuaboshi website. that is a really nice design

i dont have time to work more on the page today, i just got home from the band practise and its 23:30 :o i need to get up at 6am to have a shower then go to teh work..

If you were to go with the gray look, the color wheel wouldn't really apply^_^

Just make sure there's enough contrast between the background and the text, so it's easily readable.

Also, don't do that shiny metallicy look that everyone's all drooly over, it's so cliche

But I suppose there's nothing really wrong with it

All those boxes on the left just feel kinda awkward.

i have that feeling too. as i've said before: i have no talent in color/design. this is the best i could do. hahahaha, i laugh at myself im my only fan.

what if i make those "boxes" like they where before, but instead of gray, they got to be blue.. hmm, yeah. let me try that

edit,
ok take a look now i think this was much better

I think your website looks already awesome.
But to choose colors, I would try : http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html#
