does anyone else do this? when I am typing realy fast (thats fast for me anyway..40 or 50 wpm) I sometimes skip words, phrases or even whole lines I meant to put in, I think em but they don`t make it as far as the keyboard, I always have to go back and re-read stuff to make sure I have put in everything, also when at speed I always miss the first quote and have to go back and replace the 2 with ", so, does anyone else get problems like that? or is it just my unique "style" ?

I skip words and sometimes start whole new sentances inside existing sentances when I (hand)write fast.

When i'm typing fast I don't skip whole words. I just make one letter mistakes... but I know when I make a mistake so I hit backspace and go on.

Because of this I can hit the backspace key at about the same speed as the rest of the keys.

Sometimes I'll miss an word or twi, but I usually manage to catch it

So here I am typing as fast as I can (quite fast btw, I can actually type with my eyes closed--I'll somehow know when I missed a letter and hit the backspace key) and so far I haven't misesd any imrporspaj worls

dunno how many words per minute I write at, but the fact that I can type well without looking at the keyboard is something that tends to freak-out my co-workers. I'm looking at them and talking while I code. It makes them really nervous for some reason

Yah hehehe. When I go to my parents' house and type up documents for them, I can chat and laugh, and do a bunch of other stuff while typing away at speeds close to 100WPM. Muhuhaha.

I remember the day I realized that I no longer look at the keyboard to type. I guess it was because my private school was very anal in enforcing strict computer lessons on us since Grade 1

I have to keep glancing down or I start to hit the wrong keys, but then I`m a four and a half finger typist, still pretty fast though, I can go faster than some formaly trained typists, I might try that typing tutor thing I have on a coverdisk and see if I can get my speed up to something more impressive, TKF15H and Jeku are making me feel rather inferior .

60WPM average here , used some software from a coverdisc to initially learn, too... No need to look at keyboard. Yes, yes it does freak people out.

I type at 70 words per minute, including after fixing my msitakes

But no, I don't forget to type something I'm thinking

I slow my thought process to only think as fast as I'm typing

my typing speed is about 96 WPM on adverage and I /do/ make mistakes. But i dont look at the keyboard and can look at other people (not even the screen) and talk to them whilst typing - years of dedication and what do you get? When it comes down to it.. a really sad skill xD

But my most common mistake is I dont really think about typing anymore or what im typing, I just think words and let my hands go on automatic, almost as if im speaking to someone. For some reason this introduces a really weird error where I will think a word and type a word that SOUNDS like it. For example, I was once talking about a sports event with someone and instead of typing pay per view I typed paper view. I also tend to add bits to words randomly to make them into one of their other forms, like just up a bit where I typed automatic the first thing i typed was automaticly and another common one I do is comical instead of comic.

I really cant explain why x_X

I'm a pretty good typist at about 60wpm and I don't look at the keys. My real problem is trying to write with a pen and paper (which I despise), I put the letters for words down out-of-sequence and have to go back and add in the "filler" letters.

you know what happens if i type too fast?? (not sure how fast i type normaly because i never officially learned it...)

i alternate the word "the" with "teh"

if i think of teh word "the" my fingers will type "teh"... and vice versa... unless of course i'm typing slowish then i type what i'm thinking

if i try to type waay faster then i should be typing it comes out like this...
(not sure how many wpm i can type without errors but it's probably about 40wpm)

[edit]... actually when i tryed to type too fast in the above snippet it didn't turn out to bad... maybe i know nothing about what i'm talking about...

Most of the time, yes. My problem is that I'm used to an international keyboard, while at work I have to use the brazilian ones, so certain keys get moved around and I end up typing more slowly. >_<

Just changed my work one to a wireless effort. But they have changed the function key layout slightly! Groups of 3 instead of 4. Grrr. Plus the home/delete/end section is completely different. Totally screws me up.

heh, I know what that's like. I've had to use a keyboard where the function keys were in groups of 5. But that's not so bad as on keyboards where they push the insert/home/pgup/del/end/pgdown keys down to add power/sleep/wake on top. I keep pressing Insert when I try to delete things. >_<

Yeah, my insert key is high now, with delete taking up as much room as the backspace key. Plus there is a key directly above the pg up and down keys. No!!!

ditto. It is very retarted. I can type at about 83 wps, but I do have a few backspaces, and deletes. I cant when they do those moronic "fish ate chicken" tests, I can only type something I want to.

I can type well over 100WPM and rarely have any mistakes, when i do i dont need to look at the keyboard to backspace and then correct the word.

I agree with one of the posters though, sometimes i do tend to throw out words that sound like the actual word i wanted.. ie.. Payperview and paper view.

Taking one of those typing tests where you have to read and type, I average 40-50 wpm, but if someone was reading it to me, or if I was making it up then I would average a lot more. I just can't touch type pefectly.
