is it me or is there an air of negativity in the forums at the mo?

see the 'jerk' thread, see the DBPro U.5.9b3 thread, see any number of other threads,...

reality check:-

1) DBPro - is excellent - let's face it - most of us cant program more than a basic little ditty in C++ and this is way better than PureBasic, IBasic, BlitzBasic3D etc notwithstanding how it develops (frustratingly) it still develops - compare u.5.9b3 with original release....

2) We (I) get v frustrated with TGC responses in the forum - on reflection though - they DO respond - and many things we've harped on about are introd or they say will be.

3) ODE for free.

4) compare this forum with the forums for other \'similar\' products... cant be compared, if you ask me.

5) there DOES seem to be an intensification of the \'nastiness\' on the forums recently - why? - can a wiser and older head than mine explain why?

6) did I mention that i think DBPro drops the defecatory material from a grande height on its competitors?

7) I hassle TGC all the time, they diss me down, usually fair comment, I hassle again, and again, something IS done in the end. I have faith....

It’s all very simple. Lee wanted to put a disclaimer on the box that said, “requires brain and windows xp. warning: life not supplied” Mike said that "no, we can’t stick that on there! Brain, and xp? That’s a contradiction in terms."

Not sticking the warning on the box was widely regarded as a bad move and angered many people.

I think the problem is that people would like a bit more feedback on what is happening...

Come to the third DarkBasic Pro Sci Fi Con - 4 days to go! Flooooo !

I don't need more feedback, i don't need more features, i don't need more feet!

i'm prefectly happy with DBPro as it is right now, i could go for a year probably before i'd need bugfixes/new features....

but you could argue that that means i'm just stupid...

Quote: "3) ODE for free."

That's not really giving us much considering ODE is free anyway! It's open source.

Still, it's cool that TGC noticed there was at least a bandwagon going past (what with the excellent Newton wrapper) and decided to jump on it. Now all we need is some proper documentation on the new commands (rather than the 'here is a quick tut I put together by bugging Mike for a few days' that we are getting at the moment (as good as they are)).

A complete and up to date reference manual would be a massive help to everyone, and would make developers take DB-Pro more seriously. I know it's difficult when the whole language is in a constant state of flux, but an on-line reference manual wouldn't hurt!

I have noticed that there are a lot more whiners on the boards lately.
