Mario Kart DS
Graphics: 4.5/5 The character models are low poly, but the animations, style, and diversity is stunning on the DS.
Sound: 4/5. Some of the voices are a bit compressed, but the diversity of sounds never gets old, and they're all perfect.
Weapon Realism: 0/5. HA! That's a laugh...
Weapon Awesomeness: 5/5. It just doesn't get better than this in any kart or battle racers.
Physics System: 4/5. This is Mario Kart. Don't expect the most realistic physics, but the simplified physic used in the game are used very well, and there's a lot of them.
Collision System: 5/5. Collision is nothing less than perfect. Everything collides just like it should in a kart racer.
Gameplay: 5/5. This is the fifth Mario Kart game. Making the game play better is hard to imagine, and there's just so darn much of it. You can blow into the microphone to inflate your balloons during battle mode is one of the least of the features, but it's still so cool and surprisingly useful.
Replay Value: 8/5. Five different game play modes. 32 racetracks, each with three different levels of intestisty. Six battle arenas with two battle modes and a single player battle mode option. 54 missions, from driving through tires to outracing the goomba king. Time trial mode, with unlockable developer ghosts, and the ability to trade ghosts with other people. Eight different cups, broken into two different grand prix’s. Tons of unlockable characters, each with two different karts. Then there's the wireless. Eight player battle and verses whether you have one cargtrige per player, or just one cartridge. Then there's the wi-fi... You get the idea.
HUD: 5/5. The two screens prevent this from getting cluttered, and it shows you everything you need to know. The addition of an overhead view map that shows things exactly like they are on the track around revolutionizes the game in so many ways.
Control: 5/5. ...It's Mario Kart. What do you expect?
Story: 0/5. This is Mario Kart. No story could do anything but deduct from it.
Music: 5/5. Every track has its own perfect music, that makes you want to crank up the speakers.
Overall: 95%. This is without a doubt, the greatest Mario Kart game every made, which makes it the greatest kart racer ever made. It's also well worth the purchase of a DS for this game alone, as it is by far the greatest DS game to date. I have doubts Nintendo will be able to outdo this Mario Kart on revolution, it's so good. I think Nintendo should pat themselves on the back for this one.
My only complaint is that there's the occasional lag when playing on the wi-fi multiplayer.
