Like how the PS2 could'nt be shipped into the UK because of it having bit's of missile in it.

I'm thinking that this could never happen, if they did then you'll get these people who buy the console early then poisong their mates minds against it, ultimately killing it off, just because Sony want you to blindly buy a game before playing it.

It's a good job we have all these dedicated mod chip engineers working on our behalf - it's funny how they end up saving companies from lost sales a lot of the time. If sony go this route, then there'll be a mod chip that changes matters before very long.

This is friggin rediculous...in order to let a friend borrow a game to try, you'd have to hand over your $300+ system. I usually like to try before I buy, so this would be a major killjoy for me...

Knowing me that would be the #1 reason NOT to buy the friggin thing...I was all excited too. But if this goes through, I'm not even gonna bother.

My guess is that large companies such as IBM, Microsoft and Sony file patent applications for many technologies that they do not end up using.

I second that guess.

According to the article:

Quote: "Obviously, if true, there’s no way that it would be implemented with the PS3 since it would spell commercial suicide."

All too true. No more renting games--- try before you buy. I don't think so. It would kill the system before it even appears. And how would the disc know it's in the system? When you first put the disc in is it going to burn your system's serial number to the disc? The nerve :-|

Yep, thats why I said "if". Would be an amazing suicide though. Already are cocking it up big time with MP3 (I have a great little Sony MP3 that plays for like 70 hours plus on one battery, but they sell it like for 2 minutes, and so you don't end up with great accessories etc), lets see what they can do with the PS3.

I would like it. Mainly to see Sony backtrack like no tomorrow. Also, maybe I'm a bit more bitter and twisted these days, but the first thing I though of is how it would be a good plan for an MS employee to "leak" this supposed real rumour from Sony, what with only a few weeks to the 360 launch it could only be a positive thing for them.

I have to agree with Dazzag, I would like to see Sony's popularity drop slightly. If this turns out to be true I probably won't be getting a PS3 since about 75% of all my games (on about 7 different consoles) are 2nd hand! This is because they don't drop the price fast enough, I refuse to pay more then £20 for a game.

Don't look at me like that!
You're just jealous because the voices are talking to me!
