http://www.themoviesgame.com

Came out on the 8th
I got it on Friday night

Just wondering whether anyone else has got it yet - everyone has been so excited about it, and now its come out, no-one cares

Well, its amazing anyway. Slightly more limiting than I expected, but still a damn fun game. One of the most bug-free games from Lionhead yet I think

Got a pretty good review on gamepsy aswell (8.3/10) although I must say the stress meter on the stars is very infuriating. I'm working on a little 1940's sci-fi film. I'll upload the results in a WMV soon**... (hopefully)

**Don't expect wonders here, my script quality has been graded as 'awful'...

Same here, I'll have a read of a few reviews and probably have it by the end of the week.

EDIT:: Just had a quick look, the community area of the website looks pretty good.

Yeah, its pretty good - but make sure your not running an AMD processor that is lower than 2.4ghz. There is some weird bug that crashes the game on AMD processors under this speed, because they don't have SSE instructions that the game uses

Just ordered the Premiere Edition with bonus Star Maker Demo Disc from EBGames should be fun.

Yes, but you can only do that if you export it to a program outside of the game - since they export as WMV's

(but it won't let you upload movies to the community site if they've been edited externally)

Yes, I got it, 2nd best game ever made.

Graphics: Terrific
Sound: Good
Controls: So-So
Longetivity: Terrific
Lag: Good
Gameplay type: Addictive/Hobby
Customizability: Setting the bar

I say exactly what's on my mind, like "Imagine your grandpa in a speedo" or "I eat Jell-O while waxing the table" and my personal favorite, "I drink bathtub water"

Well, it kind of includes a hell of a lot of media for you. I mean, its predominantly a game, not a movie making tool

I mean, they couldn't let you import copyrighted material - guys would be including it and uploading to the movies site willy-nilly, and that defeats the whole object of it.

If you have movie maker, you could simply import the footage, add the mp3/etc. and re-export as WMV

Also, just to clarify; don't expect a limitless movie-making experience. To keep things simple, the game relies on templated actions which to 'glue' to certain characters (e.g. hitting another character, firing a gun etc) - this means all movement and stuff is already pre-calculated. Don't worry though - there are literally thoasands of templates for all manner of things.. Its a great game

Still entirely possible I wasn't saying it couldn't make some decent movies, but it isn't a 'hardcore' movie making tool. Y

Just playing it now. Going through the tutorial thing, so the movies are a bit boring. I haven't found out how to customize camera angles etc yet...

Have you got the custom script-writing office yet? Until you get that, there's very little you can do with the films with regards to customization

But: (little tip) Double click on the set just before the crew start filming (you'll get the weird little glasses icon when hovering over the set if you get the right time) You can then alter how the film pans out (a bit)

Also: When the Lionhead studio logo appears at the start, hold down left click, and move the mouse around. Enjoy

I've got a script writing office now, so I've got some custom ones churning out. I'll try and dbl click the set just before filming, see what happens

BIG tip:

you can use the same footage twice if you alter the sliders each time. Great tip because there's only so many fight scenes, and such a large hole to fill with nonsensical violence!
