Hello,

First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Im trying to figure out which program to buy, DarkBASIC or FPS Creater.

Many people think of FPSC as "cheating" because it is not actualy programing, but it saves alot of time . It does makes everybodys game look the same, since theres not a lot of objects.

DarkBASIC is pretty much everybodys game is different, but takes a while to write. I like it, but i don't know if I have the time to write 10,000 lines of code(if anyone knows how much lines of code are in the average game, please tell me so i'll get an idea ).

Thank you for helping

Not only that but you're not stuck making FPS games. You can make any genre of game. My first complete Darkbasic game was 769 lines of code... that's including all the blank lines and rem statements.

And if you're going to buy Darkbasic... get Pro. It has more commands and it's just as easy to learn as Darkbasic Classic.

Check out this link... it shows the differences between Classic and Pro:

Well, I've never used fps creators, but I have to say, DBC has been the most fun probramming language I have ever used. IT also taught me the basics of programming. I also learned a tiny bit of basic, making it easier to program in visual basic. So, I'd say, DB all the way!

I agree with Grog. Some argue that DBC offers you more end users because of its lowers system reqs, and that Pro has too many bugs. Frankly though, DBC has some of its own bugs that are an incredible pain in the butt and they will never be fixed. DBPro lets you have mesh deformation animation, global variables, custom types, and all sorts of other fun things that it automates for you (advanced particles and terrain are teh coolest).

What is the main difference in DBC and DBP?

dbc doesn't have as many supported file types as dbc (such as it can't support .obj and what-not). IT also has a HUGE fps rundown when you export it. So, it isn't a wysiwyg. You have to make it faster in the editor so it will run fine in the exe. There are others but those are the main ones I found annoying.

Really, DBP has more features, and is still being upgraded. So you will get more bang for your buck with dbp. The only downside is dbp requires more advanced compuers while dbc works on any computer with dx8+ and a video card with 3d support (All modern cards).

I think i'll choose Dbp, since most people are saying its just as easy to learn as Dbc.

Thank you
