I usually go off all numbers. I use the command "hide limb obj, limb" to see wich limb has become invisible.
I run the program a couple of times and i increase the limb number each time. Then I write it on a note what limb numbers i need.

Or you can write a small application that will increase the limb number for you when pressing up/down, and hiding the current limb.

thats the thing, when i use hide limb,it doesnt hide anything,no matter what # i change it to.

edit:

ok,i figured out how this works.dbp wont color/hide a limb if your x model is skin & bones.it has to be direct x retained mode.(seperate groups for your model).

so the easiest way to get the limb #s for your model:
export to direct x retained mode.run dbp ,using commands of hide/color limbs.then go back & save your model back to direct x skin & bones.. viola!
