Hi,

I have seen that the mods have quite a lot of work: abuse reports, noob slaps, new registration approval, filtering noob posts, and still contributing to the community. I think I have a way to let the mods focus on helping keep the community clean without having to deal with all the approvals and whatnot. Why not have a group of members on the forums that are recommended by member vote and then staff approved that would be Honored Users.

These Honored Users would have the job of approvals of posts and would get a neat little image that says they are Honored as good members in the forums. Instead of having the long new member approval process, why not have the members that are new post 20 good posts approved by honored users and then the honored users would just check them off. The honored users would also be able to delete their own posts.

I think this would help the forums by honoring good members to the forum, and taking the new member stuff off the mods hands. Honored members could also do noob slaps. They would be good members and would know when things would be getting out of hand. The mods would be able to handel all that with moderation actions and keeping the forum in tact (abuse reports, stickies, etc.)

What do you think? This would allow good members to be recognized by the whole community and give the mods less work so they could worry more about the community itself than new members and flame wars.

What do you think about this idea?

Hey, I am a total noob to DBP, so if you would be kind enough to just help me along. I'm good with FPSC though, just learning DBP now.

When they need help they can just appoint more mods. Creating a lesser mod would just complicate things. Besides, I believe the current mods don't all share the same rights and responsibilities, so really, that's already in place. They just all have the same title.

*agrees with jimmy*

If the mods are truely overworked (not true) then Rich would just appoint a new mod to teh squad... like me. Or jimmy. Or joel. Or anyone else in our little plot to take over teh world..oops. SHOULDn't have said that.

Nah, we all have the same rights bar Rich - I reckon it's more to do with the boards that we visit, and how well we know the posters. Things are getting a bit hectic with the FPSC board though, has to be said, maybe we could all vote in a nanny to look after it .

The workload on the mods isn't that great, I haven't had to take any days of work yet from stress.

Rich has provided some new tools recently that have helped us out, and the removal of some troublesome users has also improved the atmosphere.

Muahahaha....

But 'Honored Users' would basically just be mods with less permissions, so I don't really see what the point is.

The workload isn't that great at all

IMO anybody who isn't considered 'good' enough to be promoted to full mod shouldn't have any extra powers to compensate.

I think anyone who thinks they deserve to be a mod, should throw themselves off a cliff or get a life, either one works

the ascii in this post is erm pointless

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

I was thinking of having it just for a good member group to guide the new forum members around and have access to staff forums etc.
